You're too kind, but I think I'd rather get a refund at this point. I'm not the first person who has complained to you about you avoiding doing their artwork and stealing their money. You've shown to constantly delete comments left by them and I've seen entire journals taken down from people who dared call you out. Tell you what, you find my note, give me back my money. Or just ignore me as you would have done had you not been called out on a popular artists page by the artist themselves.

Egh, 2 is an unfunny jerk who was starting to slips way off the deep end last time I listened to any of his material (way back when, heh), but in this case the 'joke' itself was (seemingly deliberately) taken out of context. There is a big difference in joking about rape, and joking about people who misuse the word rape. This time it was the latter, though I wouldn't put either past him really.
Normally I'd just shrug and not mention anything given who we're talking about here, but I actually find that branch of feminism pretty harmful as to want to defend the joke on it's own. I feel that the people who frequently use 'rape' as a metaphor for anything they dislike or feel threatened by are effectively sabotaging more serious efforts elsewhere in non-radical feminism. I mean, doesn't it severely diminish the seriousness of rape by reducing it from a traumatic, life-altering crime to a weird buzzword akin to "terrorism" or "communism"? I still think back to that one anecdote about some kind of university crest/flag design/sports team symbol of an angry wolf face being framed as 'promoting rape', although now I tried to google it to cite my source I can't for the life of me find it. Ugh.
Just... ugh. All round.
Thanks, now I feel dirty. >:C

I guess what I'm trying to say in a TL;DR sense is by all means be offended, but it's intellectually dishonest to frame this as a rape joke rather than a feminism joke. Trying to use the subject of rape itself as a shield from criticism is symptomatic of being -part- of rape culture, isn't it?
For the record I was thinking more generally in terms of defending 2's "cynicism and derisiveness is cruise control for cool" personal brand.
I know plenty of feminists (myself being one of them) who argue that using the word "rape" to describe anything except for non-consensual sex robs the word of its meaning and seriousness. If anything this particular unfunny opinion of 2's was just a hasty generalization.
So yeah, I agree with you.

I had to dig to figure out what was going on myself and when I found out I just rolled my eyes. It's a joke about a group of people turning things into a rape references/jokes.... which got turned into a rape joke/reference by a group of people. The irony of that is what made me smirk in amusement. The original joke wasn't funny and he had to explain it to people making it even less funny. Oh well. People be people.
I don't keep up with him myself anymore. He is funny sometimes but he is also a little too into the drug stuff for me and I don't find that entertaining. But he does have some funny stories not involving drugs that I've enjoyed. Either way, he stepped on a mole hill and people are crying out about him destroying Everest.
Oh and you may want to avoid a thing called "The Aristocrats". I mean if you want to rake 2 over this stupid infographic then The Aristocrats will ruin over 100 different big name comedians for you as they actually do joke about incest and rape instead of a one off about how a group turns things into rape references.... It totally changed how I view Bob Saget for the rest of my life.

for me i just want to talk about humor and equality in things and not get chewed out for stupid stuff, yes i understand people are sensitive to different subjects but as someone who has had bad things like that happen joking about it can actually help in some strange way, its weird but it can happen with people, do i like the consept of the joke? no but does the joke and how it is put togeather make me feel better beacuse it helps me get away from the memorys of the event? yea it actually does but it can be done is just fucked up ways that sicken me aswell. not trying to start a rant but just trying to explain how i feel about the whole thing.
To me it's like the issue of things like that really bad Muhammad movie, The Interview, or any other media that caused an uproar because someone or a group of people were offended. It's in their right to be offended just as it is in the other party's right to be offensive. Just don't actively hurt anyone physically. In the mean time, personally, I rather help the hurt side cope rather than jump at the offending person.
Well yea I would rather help the people who are hurt but at the same time the whole muhammad and interview thing is imo not the best examples beacuse there is major overeacting on one part and the other is a farce on a really terrible person, but I do agree with the point you are making all in all, but there is also times where the offensive/offended are I. A huge grey area, most of the time it is a grey area and the best thing we can to is watch and listen
Not at all. It's not even a joke, as far as I can tell. Feminists, even the worst ones in their worst moments, don't go spouting that rape is happening when it isn't. Maybe at worst they consider all consensual sex to be rape via some sort of patriarchy/man-privilege logic loop, but even that still requires some form of intercourse to have taken place before rape accusations get thrown around.
The glass isn't being raped, the glass doesn't have the slightest thing to do with rape. I don't have words for the massive leap in logic required to go from glass half empty/full to rape. It's the kind of joke only a child would laugh at, and only because it's making fun of something they think is dumb, and taboo words are funny to children.
Honestly, I don't think 2 even cracked a smile at this. I can only assume he reposted it because he has a vengeful hatred of feminists (popular opinion these days - thanks, Tumblr) and this happens to agree with his general sentiment. Such ignorance of the faults of someone who's on "their side" of an argument is something I absolutely despise.

Ah yes, feminists, who are continually asking that people not use the word "rape" to refer to anything except sexual assault, would definitely say something like "The glass is being raped". This is just the sort of meaningful and incisive satire I'd expect from someone whose Twitter profile is "Ham and pants. The PANTS!"
I think he is on the anti-sjw bandwagon since the GG incident maybe? In that context its a dry humor? Out of that context its not that funny. Like Dane Cook.
Its not a rape joke its a joke on crazy feminists who call everything rape (Tumblr) I think? Saying this makes me feel silly. XD
Loads of people make rape jokes most involving prison, so everyone freaking out is kinda petty.

Strawman? Is that you?! :D
Lol, don't go putting words into the mouths of millions upon millions of people. I'm quite sure that the 'feminazis' dwell in the same mythical forest as the unicorns... XD
Feminists don't call everything rape, and prison rape jokes = rape jokes. Neither is good so there. Don't throw feminism under the bus.

You would actually be suprised how many radfems are out there fucking up feminism, a lot of good people are thinkING feminism is some crazy radical BS thanks to them, a lot of good feminists like Emma Watson are calling themselves Huminists just so there not thought of being part of the radicals
Unfortunately, the loud minority does tend to silence the quiet majority, especially on the internet. I'd say it's pretty safe to say Radfems are a good place to blame a good portion of damage to the reputation of feminism in general.
This aside from, of course, oppressive men causing a problem for women/trans/anything that's not cis-straight-male. We can't ignore the original reason for which feminism was spawned from anyway. I'm just saying radical 'anything' doesn't help a good cause at all.

What?
Have you seen Macintosh and the other crazy SJWs? Its not putting words in their mouths if they've already been saying it. Yeah.. I dont remember mentioning femnazis but I've seen some that cut close the sterotype but I'm hoping they were joking.
I was referring to the SJW/FEMEN version of feminism but hey go nuts. There is a double standard in those jokes but I agree neither are good.

The worst part is if he'd left the graphic without comment the controversy would have choked on itself.
Saying "I love things that are true" sort of paint his opinion, forming a negative emotion Voltron out of the tasteless humor and his implied dislike of feminists. This is why jokes are hard.

Hey Pie? Keep doing this. Being awesome. Calling out those who deserve to be taken to task, while simultaneously NOT going all holier-than-thou like so many do. You walk that line with excellent balance, and produce humor out of it as well.
Basically just sayin' to keep up the good work!

Those who disagree (on that subject, anyways) simply haven't paid enough attention.
You've mocked yourself in both your art and words before. You realize and acknowledge what you can and cannot do, and don't act as though you're perfect. You merely strive to do better, and it shows in your works. Gotta respect that, and I do so about you.

I don't understand why rape is the one thing that can't be joked about. People make awful jokes about the Holocaust or dead babies. These are very VERY serious issues that have left millions killed, or are constantly caused by awful people. Why is it that people don't ever get chastised for making those jokes, but suddenly it's rape that's too far? That's bullshit double standards.
Maybe 2's picture was dumb and not the funniest, but I do understand his point of view. It pokes fun at the more femnazi group than actual feminist. Have you seen how bad some people get? There's women who go out there and say people who are white and cis have no place in society and all men are pigs and scum. That's an upsetting thing to see and does not promote equality. These are the same kinds of people who misuse the word rape and try to make men seem like monsters. I'm a woman myself and was sexually assaulted as a child, and I find such dark humor fantastic. If some people don't, they are free to be upset because it's a sensitive subject. Not everyone enjoys or likes the same things, and that's what makes society awesome! But no one should not be allowed to make a joke. PAtrice O'Neal was lamb basted on TV, for exmaple, for making a donkey punch joke that some people found unfunny. How do you know a joke is bad unless you do it? And some people find such humor funny, some don't. It's understandable.
If I get offended by something I just move on, which I think is the best thing anyone can do. People are free to get offended, but that doesn't mean others should cater to their tastes. Everyone has different likes, so if we tried to please everyone, nobody would get to see the things they want. People just need to realize others will make jokes they don't like. And that's fine; not everyone enjoys the same humor or ideas or jokes. That's why there's so many comedians out there for all different tastes! I mean really Pie, you make offensive joke comics all the time (your character for comics getting physically hurt a couple times, that's assault which is a serious issue), but suddenly it's too much when someone drops the R word?

As said above, I saw his panel at anthrocon and thought he was really funny. I chatted with him briefly in person in the Dealer's Den and he was a very nice and polite man. Someone even dropped the shotglass they bought from him, and he gave them another for free. I think despite his humor, 2 is a very nice person. People put on a persona for comedy and a act, which I know isn't in everybody's tastes. I won't even pretend I know him personally but I like what he does, and found him to be a very nice person.
Because I think people are too sensitive and jump all over people who make off color jokes. I wasn't aware that people didn't like logic being used to try and explain both sides. These are very real people who have real feelings. Now, if he hurt someone? That would be different. It's different with a certain now administrator who I will never defend because he actually did shitty things. What shitty thing did 2 do? He made a joke some people don't like, so yeah I'll defend him for that.
Oh okay. Glad this didn't go anywhere constructive, as it usually doesn't. You ignored my points anyway because you're dead seat on someone being a bad guy. I like your humor and art, but I don't condone the things you're doing. Calling someone out and belittling them is an awful thing to do.
I'm sorry you didn't want to actually have this discussion about this. I hoped that I could at least talk about this with you, and not instead be called out as " a reputation for defending these kinds of people" when trying to state my side or explain things. I know you don't agree with me, but that's no reason to act like that. My aim isn't to "win" arguments, but to help people understand the other side they don't take into account because this is the internet and everyone can be mean to each other here yay! I'm not trying to be an asshole or talk down to people, and I didn't mean to come off that way by saying I use logic. But in my experience, people gun for emotional responses first and don't actually take the situation into account. So yeah, take care then I suppose!
I apologize then, for saying it the way I did. I didn't mean to try to insult your intelligence or anyone else's. I just know it's easy to see something shitty and go "fuck that guy." I just felt people got angry too easily on the internet, and didn't think 2 did anything that warranted such hatred since he's (from what I've seen) a nice person.
Ahh, thanks dude! I'm glad people don't just think I'm trolling or being argumentative. I think everyone deserves fair treatment online, especially in an age where people struggle to find a good middleground. It's easy to jump on people for not liking things you don't, but it doesn't excuse the way people act towards those who haven't done anything actually wrong.
I would like to know exactly what was going on here, I could guess that it has something to do with people not understanding what comedians do, but details why this circle-jerk suddenly happened would help me grasp the situation a little better. If it's really just a rape joke, then not only do people not get the purpose of comedy as a domain of free expression, but also have seriously warped and coddled priorities.

Pie linked it earlier above. I understand it was kinda unfunny, but I don't think it was anything that he should be hated over, which I was trying to explain but got talked down to for defending those kinds of people. I'm not quite sure what that means or who exactly I defended to make people upset or me be notable, but no worries! I don't think Pie minds his humor, but doesn't like him in general. I don't really know him though, so she could be right. Just meeting him for a brief time and seeing his comedy, I don't share the same feelings as she does.

That's not even a rape joke, that's a joke that refers to rape. It's a joke about people (typically feminists of certain stripe) can make anything into rape. which is what happened without a hint of irony. Holy mother of god they missed the point entirely and validated at the same time.
No, Tumblr's brand of spoiled teenage girl "feminism" is most certainly not that. Especially not when they outright attack men who do the same, play damsel in distress when it suits their needs, purposely be transphobic, claim gay men are misogynists somehow, etc. They make a mockery of what feminism is meant to be.
...HE WASN'T MAKING A RAPE JOKE. I JUST went over this. He's making fun of idiot "feminists" who trivialize rape by claiming fucking everything is rape culture. Seriously, go ahead and point out where he made fun of rape victims. Just by using the word "rape"? And I don't care what he's done before, this is about what he did NOW, so that's moot.
Well I have seen the amount of crazy folks GG and internet atheist vloggers have strewn about, and I'm not going to abandon the word 'feminism' because of a brash group of people. I ask again, why would 'feminism' offend anyone?
I'm beginning to think this anti-feminist backlash is the result of deep personal insecurities.

I haven't ever seen more people talk about and express an opinion about "2" since....? Hmm.
The guy had better come up with some new material if he ever hopes to keep a career in comedy going. He has every right to express unpopular opinions and tell off-color jokes, and all of us have the power to ignore him. But if he want's to continue making a living off of it he had better start making people laugh again.

I have no idea about what's going on (and surprisingly am very thankful for that), but damn it got fierce in the comment section. It's like a tiny war of the words in here. People being outed for shady business practices, people defending rape jokes. I think if ever there were an example needed for text based chaos, it would be here.
Always loved that about you, Pie.

Spot on as usual.. I tend to avoid commenting about this kinda stuff because I don't wanna give the whole thing more attention. Always love your commentary, thank you~

I think you misunderstood. Making a bad thing from engaging in an open discussion in a polite manner is some seriously twisted stuff. To use the term "sea lion" in a serious manner and a negative way means you essentially either don't understand how the internet works or are only want to express yourself and resent others for responding.
over a decade ago, he was pretty funny and popular. Hell, I even interviewed for a spot on the 2 sense show. Thing is, he has gotten older, and so has a lot of others int he fandom, and things change, new people come in, never heard of the guy or care. Some things are taken as they are, be it in one context or another. Personally, I fell out of favor of the guy when he got with this one dumb shit in socal who nearly ruined califur one year. After the Antheria project they did, I just washed my hands of the guy. I still like his old stuff, but thats about it anymore. *Shrugs*
Am I the only one here that knows 2 is still here? Does anyone even look at who goes to conventions? Everyone is either lazy or just wanna take sides before they even know what opinions they even have just because you can't stand him. The comments are basically just "oh look an artist I like dislikes someone, better do the same". Getting ridiculous to be honest. :/
They didn't really love this stuff in 2002, though, they just didn't have anything better.
Like Yahtzee and Maddox, 2 has long since bumped up against the reality that he was never really very clever or interesting, he was just one of the first to use a medium that was brand new at the time. Many other people have since proven that they can do what he does much, much better, leaving him little more than an angry, shrieking little footnote in internet history.

Spoiler: There's two. Just two.
(I cant even vouch for accuracy, I just thought it'd be funny if there was only two. After one trainwreck with the #1 you've won the argument badge I'm not sure if there was another. Anyone saying they still like two isn't a defence it's Moore's Paradox. Sometimes I forget that there are other fields within Logic that aren't lists of logical fallacies to score internet points with.)
