For
Amethysmus calendar.
I'm chopping away at these, and trying to maintain an equal amount of drawings per each calendar. This is why there are gaps of time between each post- as I am literally working on one-yes-post, and one-no-post.
Trying to captivate Ameth's aggressive nature- emphasis on sharp edges, and and lots of cut-shapes to bring out that angular nature we associate with that.

Mad patience? No... mad skills? no.. mad TEACHERS who MADE ME WORK WITH RULERS OBSESSIVELY- YES YES YES.
Seriously though, drawing one half on transfer paper, and then retracing it on the opposite really REALLY helps. Truth be told, if you blow it up to full size, you can see the wibbles and the little discrepancies- it just comes off as "perfect" when resized. XD

YES!
But only if you ARE going for a symmetrical image. Soba, for example, will not be symmetrical... yours will be [wings spread out]. It all depends on what your areas of focus is- the symmetry ones work for portraits and repetitive patterns far more than the ones that are asymmetric, or bound shape. So if you want to exemplify hands, wings, face- better work with the options that can embellish those particular aspects, both symbolically and physically. :)

Thank you love, i really appreciate that! However, I AM trying to get done in a timely fashion- I have 2 weeks of short-film work at the beginning of Feb, and I want to be able to have a decent amount of work out of the way until then. Can't keep you waiting forever!
This is amazing. :)
I do love this style of art, and of course being an attendee of your convention lectures, I now know a bit about where it comes from! When I was touring the Pittsburgh museum a year ago in anticipation of an interview there (which never came, BOOOO >:P ) there were a handful of similar banners adorning the walls of an exhibit, so guess whom I immediately thought of?

Ahhh! That makes me all tingly and bashful- you are too kind! I hope you are planning on coming to Vancoufur? I will be at FE this year, selling stuff- maybe I'll see if they have more panel space to conduct a few more panels there. Might be too late in the game. Still, if you are coming to any one of those, I want to take you out to dinner and catch up!!!
I didn't know you were coming to FE! I will definitely be there, unless there's some disaster that keeps me away. I very much look forward to it! It's been a good while since I've seen you and I would love to spend some time together. :)
Also, the convention web site has a little graphic that says they're looking for panelists, so you might be in luck!
