Calling a Friend ~ ASMR for Panic Attacks/Anxiety Relief
[Hi there, friend.]
[It's going to be okay.]
For those who are specifically suffering from a panic attack or general anxiety, I made this short phone-conversation roleplay for you. I was having a very bad attack, myself, and found this lovely ASMR on youtube that helped me calm down.
Here it is, for those interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJK2ne9wz70
I wanted to have one that was a bit slower, but with similar affirmations for you. <3
Please, take care of yourself. It's going to get better.
Note:
ASMR isn't everyone's cup of tea, and I understand that. please refrain from inappropriate comments. thank you~
If you would like to see/hear more of these, please let me know~
I hope you feel better~

been alone my whole life, nothing new there.
but its nice to see people stepping in to help others who may not be capable of facing the horrors and suffering that life throws at them, i see communities created by some youtubers who support each other like that, and its quite pleasant to see.

It does. it definitely does help.
I most of the time(though getting better) I go through an all day daily anxiety/panic attack and end up looking up stuff to help but I actually never thought to look up an asmr stuff on youtube =)
I'm glad that it helped you and you got through your panic attack<3 definitely not fun when they happen.

Ah yeah that's definitely how it happens. something triggers it into that bad thought and it sticks.
Yeah that's very true. its the little things. I know something recently for myself and maybe it can help you is just being able to get up and walk or something like that.
I've found that since I graduated and my work is from home I don't get to move around as much. taking a daily 30min to hour walk has been helping so much with anxiety and sleep issues.
maybe that can help you as well if you ever need it and trying to figure something out =)

Haha, you are such a sweet person! XD So very thoughtful~ I've never thought of making one of these kinda things~ but they seem really useful for people with troubles! ovo
Either way, its super thoughtful to do something like this! :D
Good wishes to you forever!

I was on the verge of having one tonight..
I tried calling some friends who knows I have them real bad, and talking to family is hard. They try to tell me to "calm down" or say that's enough and get over it. It just makes things worse.. I don't like loud tones of voices when I am panicking..because it just makes me freak out more, makes me think they are yelling at me.
I love your whispering soft voice.. Even with tears down down my cheeks..I was able to listen to this with headphones on and managed to keep calm..thank you ever so much.. <3

It stands for autonomous sensory meridian response, it's a pleasant tingling sensation which supposedly happens in response to certain stimuli, in videos it's usually soft whispering. The evidence it's actually related to any specific stimulus isn't that good (it's regarded as pseudoscience) but even if it's entirely in your head that isn't the same as it not being real. After all, the entire rest of your mind is also something that only exists in your head.
heatherfeather is a lovely ASMR artist~ there's a lot of work that goes into being a part of the community. I've been watching for about four years. Never really thought I'd do any, mostly because of self-consciousness.
But yes, as stated earlier, ASMR is a tingly reaction that some people get to personal attention, whispering, 'triggers' that make them feel nice and warm and safe. We're not entirely certain what causes ASMR because triggers are different for everyone and it cannot always be repeated, but those who do experience it will tell you that it's an intense feeling of well-being and comfort.
Oh, and not everyone experiences it! In fact, it's estimated that only one in five people experience ASMR at any point in their life. Others simply might not be susceptible. We're still unsure why.
I have a few theories about dopamine/seratonin release and correlation to early childhood experiences and empathy, but they're too vague to pursue just yet! What I'd love to see is MRI scans while someone is experiencing ASMR, though the two are pretty difficult to do at the same time because MRI's are loud and scary, which would suppress the reaction.

Thank you for sending this out Sal. I have a few friends that suffer from panic attacks on a reglar basis so i know what it's like o help someone when they are in that state. I for one have also suffered from a few in my life and I was so relieved to those that helped me during that time. So thank you Sal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and for all those you are helping with this post. <3
You're so welcome~
This sounds bad, but... watching that video made me realize that it was what I needed to hear, but also made me a little sad because it's not really what I hear from a lot of the people I confide in. then again, I try to keep it to myself more, which I wouldn't suggest doing.

Thank you for posting this, I've been going through some tense feelings of anxiety lately, to the point where it was affecting my college work. Listening to it, really helped to ease my mind, please, if you get any spare time, post more of these. With all the negativity I'm experiencing right now, a little positivity goes a long way.
i was actually honestly expecting this to be corny but it was in all reality very sweet and affirming, i'd never heard of asmr before and this was a nice stepping stone into that subject matter. very soothing, positive work, favoriting this because it is worthwhile to know where it's at in case of emergency.
leigh introduced me to asmr a few months ago and I was pretty much like "well, this makes my life make a little more sense"...I've been trying to commit to making short videos when I can because I've found that I really enjoy making them (making the videos themselves has become a super comfy stress relief) so it made me super happy to see you posting this here along with all of the positive feedback that you've received. keep up the awesome job (you have an awesomely calm/soothing voice by the way. :D)
this actualy works. it works so well. thankyou so much. I went and share dit with some other friends of mine who also suffer panic attacks.
the hardest thing to hear is that I'm capable. that actually makes me uncomfortable. I cried. but it's also something that I think needed to be said.... it's an important part of this, because I know I beat myself up to much over it and make my panic attacks worse when I do. also, the continual reminders to breathe were super good. I think that made some of the most difference. maybe not the biggest difference, but a pretty damn big difference.
on that note, I'm going to nibble on some breakfast and sip some water.
