This is a side-picture / by-product / pin-up / poster from the 'Poor Little Snake Charmer' auction project that I devised with WhiteMantis/Nae. The auction is over, but you can see the various stages in the following links. (The final image will be done very soon, so I'm posting this in advance of it!)

As you can see, it's Ame & Nae in an exotic new setting, just for fun. :}===< (Although, looking at Ame, you'd never know, with him never wearing clothes >_>)
Also, as I am wont to do, I wrote a little something (included below) for this pic and for my 'Partenaire En Transgressions', as well. <3
Thank you, Nae, as always, it is my honour to work with such a generous, organized, obliging, delightful girl.
She keeps him at bay in the eyes of the public.
Surely it's to keep him from biting or clawing at her.
Surely the beast would harm her if she did not constantly tame him, charm him,
mesmerize him with her song and her dance.
If you look beyond a glance,
there are subtle marks upon her body,
signs that she has not always been as flawless as the show.
She hides them well, the scars of her profession.
But behind closed doors, or within their camp,
he manages to get closer than close
she cannot stop the beast's advance
which has been suppressed all day long
by her dance and by her song
His feral appetite unfurls
his claws and fangs do land upon her
and she has to feed him
.

Of course, without eyelids, you'd never know if you're asleep and she's propping you up...

I didn't want to bring a pungi into this, since her snake charming outfit is so generically exotic and since in the other auction images she has a ney. I don't wish anyone the torture of playing the oboe. Is this, like, Turkey that everyone's dressed all byzantine? That would actually make a lot of sense. I couldn't shake my snake charmer/India association.
You'll have to teach me how you snakes nap. Like, the ability to ignore your eyes. It's so interesting.
It's one of my only jokes that doesn't rely on an outrageous Irish accent or a sad Droopy Dog voice. This one's the only joke my dad knows, he has the absolute worst Irish accent ever heard (he's Irish, if it makes a difference). A boy's sitting on his front stoop crying his eyes out. A guy's passing by, he sees the kid. "What's wrong, lad?" "Oooorh, sir, 'tis terrible! Me dear orl dad, he's loyin' stone dead in his bed!" Kid keeps crying. The guy goes "Aw, kid, sorry for this. You want me to go fetch the priest?" "Ooooorh, no, what's wrong with ye? How can I think o' sex at a time like this!"

It's mentioned on all three of the images I linked (all the ones featuring and pertaining to the snake charmer auction image) that the clothing is all going to be inspired by Ottoman-Empire-controlled Constantinople (which, as I'm sure you know, is modern day Istanbul, Turkey). I suppose there could be some cross-over with Byzantine stuff, given the location having originally BEEN Byzantium, of course.
But yes, we know snake charming is an Indian practice, but the idea is that Nae and Ame have come from far away to ply their trade / put on a show, in somewhere like Constantinople. Even if she's dressed in the local fashion, she'll stand out, as will Ame (in this supposed setting, it's like he's from Australia, given his species, and she's from japan, given the background of her character, so it's a big mash-up anyway!).
