So, finished up a bunch of badge commissions from people here :3 As always, i'm very grateful for the clients that choose to commission me.
But i thought it would be a good idea to address a few things about choosing an artist to commission. This goes for not only myself but for any artist who's work you'd fancy for your own.
1. Choose something you -really- want. Not so much in the specific idea of what you want ( hey, i love it when a client gives me artistic license with their ideas :3) but in the final product that you want. Quality takes time and each artist has their own ebb and flow of time and artistic inspiration.
2. If you want quality work, you should be willing to wait for it. Some artists are amazingly talented at producing beatiful and seemingly effortless works in a matter of days while others (including myself) take more time to execute a client's idea and their own vision to the optimum. Sometimes, that extra mile of adding extra detail or trying a new perspective or adding a background even though such things are not required by the client can really make a difference in the final product.
3. If you want something quick or you have a hard deadline please be sure to state said deadline and make sure the artist can comply before commiting to the transaction. This is partially a matter of research (i.e. check out the artist's galleries/websites and look at the dates of their work or their desciptions of how long a piece took and possibly why) and partially a matter of simply asking. Clearly a simple sketch is going to take less time (in theory anyway) than say a full-colored piece. An artist who uploads badges individually is going to have a quicker turnaround than someone who uploads them in batches (as seen here. All these badges were worked on simultaneously and finished tonight). By knowing more about the artist you commission, the less likely awkward exchanges will occur.

Just thought i'd put that out there :3
Hope people like their badges!

I just love your style for badges! Especially with the lettering. They're so great! :D I hope I can get one from you one day. :D
I agree with you especially on that third point you made about commissions. I make it clear that I do not draw quickly, or at least I thought I did. I'm happy the two people who commissioned me for realism are pretty patient. I do try to update on how an image is going though...

Haha. Totally castrated that E. That guy does some SERIOUSLY funky stuff with Typography. http://www.alextrochut.com/ iF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
Thanks for putting this out there. I'd like to add: If you ask a random artist if they would take a commission and they say 'No', getting irate and calling them names is probably not going to convince them to bend to your request. >_>
Fun and beautiful work as usual.

Amen.
It's far too common that I get told of a deadline two days before said deadline hits. Makes me a nervous wreck, 'specially when I take shipping into consideration.
Also, dear god those ram horns look so awesome.
