This is the character from which I gain my namesake. Her name is Nomidae and in the story, she's a demon who was originally human, having been one of the first people to sell her soul to a demon. Once in Hell, the Angel of Death took an interest in her. A plot between Elohim and Isai (Death) would involve grooming this young demon to be the being who finally proves the existence of Redemption. Humans redeem themselves many times, but demons are thought to be beyond redemption and this had proven true for eons.

Isai kept her away from the pain of Hell, the torture and all of that nastiness. He trained her in combat, taught her strategy and war, and gifted her two special guns of his own invention. Then, after a time, he set her free and let her escape Hell, though she did have to fight her way out and kill many demons in the process.

Once free, Nomidae became a Hunter, a person who slays monsters like vampires, witches, werewolves, and demons. Determined to redeem her soul, Nomidae thought she was doing God's work by eliminating evil, yet for as long as she did it, no redemption came to her. Not until she fell in love with a vampire, Hiro, she had been planning on killing.

When Hiro was attacked by his brother, who is a Hunter, death seemed certain to happen for Nomidae's new love... until she stepped in between the blade that was meant for him. With the blade piercing her heart, Nomidae felt the grasp of death taking her. But so powerful was her self-sacrifice, so pure was that moment which she gave her own life to save her love, that Elohim intervened and was able to use the cosmos to truly Redeem Nomidae's soul. Only a soul worth redeeming could have done such a selfless act of love and altruism, and Elohim used that energy to re-work Nomidae.

Now, Nomidae is an Angel, mostly. Her soul will forever bear the mark of having been a demon once, shown in her demonic wing, but she is considered, in the eyes of all (or, most everyone. There are still a few who scoff), pure once more and an Angel, as shown by her angelic wing.
