Graedius- Colour experiment 2
I drew this for
graedius because... he's relatively new and he leaves awesomesauce comments that make me feel happy, and I needed a character to draw to practice, and I knew his would work for what I had in mind, so I asked him and he let me so yeah, here he is 83 Didn't know how he'd feel about nudity, so I left his picture clean for the most part. Sexy 'coon though xD
This is.... actually kinda close to how I think I want to colour actually O_o I'm not sure what to think, I might actually he happy with this method. xD
Now, there's a few things that aren't so great, like for a 'coon he's got a bit much neck poof. That was amistake. x3 And I'm still working on some things, but I think the ink works -really- well this time. He doesn't look too cartoony like the last one did but you can still see all the lines, where you couldn't if they were pencil...
Yes, this does need some more toying with. What do you guys think, how does this compare to my usual inkless colouring? Lemme know!

oh yus, this looks good! <3 like with the last one, the ink combined with the colored pencil really makes the character stand out from the background. I can't wait to see you try this on a pic with a colored scene in the background.
*thumbs up* Its a huge step in a great direction!

Your ink and pencil line art technique really shows through here, since dark characters are kind of tricky for some artists and line work.
Your past exercise of bust trades has helped as well, as you can tell in the muzzle that he's a raccoon, not a canine or draconic (which are your specialty and strong suit respectively.) And whatever you're doing with the pencils you use your flow/transition through colors is just superb. And your fur technique just works so well with his tail tip.
Agree that he's a bit too floofy in the neck region, though, but kind of hard to notice it when I keep getting distracted by those eyes of his. You made them so dreamy.

I ususally have a lot of trouble with them because of my lighter lines melting into the darker fur... I like the pen for that. Now I just have to figure out what I'm gonna do for the lighter characters xD More experimentation is needed!
But thanks! I'm glad he looks sorta coony, even though I still think his face is off. x3 I'm glad you like, thanks <^^>

There's something about your colouring style which I like that I can't quite put my finger on. It's so unique and has so much depth.
This new method of colouring seems to blend the tones together a little more, however, it might be one of those methods which works better for some pictures and not so well for others. (This piccie is an example of it working well )

I think the ink works well depending on what you are going for. It makes the image pop alot more however to me it makes it look more toony. Your art has a misty dream like quality to it and I feel like some of that is lost with the hard lines of the black pen. That being said the pen defently ads deapth to the face wich looks amazing particuarly the eyes. I wonder if useing a grey inking pen would suit your style better. I think a very thin like .01 or even .005 grey pen (copic makes some really nice ones) would soften the lines and might work well with lighter fur tones as well
^_^ Oh my such high quality comments, makes feel kinda noobish for what I'm about to say. But who cares? Really I absolutely love this style of yours, and the coloring is very impressive. The way you do your fur is immaculate and seeing those legs made me get up and look at my dogs. /not saying they look like dogs, they just look very animalistic. Which is something I have yet to capture./ And the way you drew him totally makes me want to huggle him. This is such an instant fav.
i definitely approve of this method, it really does bring out the shading and subject a lot better. My only thought would be to make sure the lines of ink stay small...but i think you've already got that down. other than that all i have to say is "what's wrong with extra fluffy coons?" XD
Mgggghhh l3!
Your ability to draw soft, silky floofy¹ tufts of fur is just crazy -- I just wanna run my fingers through all that stripey fuzz. l3! Like seriously. <3 I've tried to dabble in doing the same, but this level of detail is just way over my head~ x3! Arrarrarrarr l3~~ *Rolls about in the tail~~~<3*
Thank you so much for doodling this for me~ I absolutely love it. l3!
I'm glad you like my lengthly comments l3 I always tend to go off a lot on pictures I really like, and often I've gotten the impression that it's more annoying than useful. x3 <3!
If you do commissions~~ (Which I... haven't checked before!) It might not be the last time your pen will do such a fine justice. l3!

I hear a lot of people call my work floofy actually... apparently I'm good at floofy.. xD
Anyway, I'm really glad ya liked it 83 His dark fur was exactly what I needed to do a good test of the ink method, and I just had this feeling you'd really appreciate a sexy picture of your coon xD
And I do do commissions, just not all the time. I usually make a journal about it when I am, so if you ever do want one, just keep an eye out on those :P
Thanks very much <^^>
