Cub of Destiny 1- From Rogue to Guardian (Full story)
No one here really knows of how I first got interested in writing. so with this first submission, I thought I would share. Beginning in 2002, I wrote a number of fanfictions based on Disney's hit, 'The Lion King.' Though I was not pleased with the first two, the third allowed my characters and my skill to begin truly growing. Out of these first three works, my brainchild was born: Meric, a gold-furred lion with sapphire-blue eyes and a snowy white mane. He's changed allot over the past six years, evolving to the point where he has taken on a life of his own (It's true!).
Meric is a part of me as much as any relative, a part of me that lives and moves within the TLK universe. Starting in 2004, I began work on a new series that evolved out of two things:
1) The first thing was out of Meric's growth. When I first started, he was too perfect, not to mention emotionless. His character was rather bland and the reader found it hard to relate to him. He's since grown more human (Even while remaining a lion), but some things never change... You'll see what I mean.
2) The second thing was out of a question many TLK fans have asked ever since its innitial release in 1994. Disney has NEVER offered a satisfactory explanation (To ANY of the questions asked by fans).
With those two things in mind, I set out to do just that. In answering the single most-asked question, I sought to:
1) Close plot gaps between the two lion king movies: TLK and Simba's Pride by joining them together as one complete story with a continuous plot.
2) Give satisfactory explanations for such details of the story such as: Scar's namesake injury, the true origin of the Outlanders, what happened during the reign of Scar, etc.
3) Create a prequel giving more depth to each of the orginal characters as well as explaining the role of custom characters within the grand TLK saga.
4) Expand my own skills through writing much of the stories from my own imagination.
5) Create an epic story that would be enjoyed by children as well as adults.
6)And most importantly, have fun! :D
To that end, I welcome any constructive critisism you may have regarding this saga, and I hope you enjoy it.
Please note that this was written two years ago, and my writing has changed a lot since that time. I've worked on the second part of what is to become a trilogy, but not recently. So, after you've read and given whatever comments, I would most appreciate if you'd either suggest that I end the story where it is, OR continue on. :) It would do me good to know that people are reading and enjoying my works again.
