I was up near Wrightwood, California doing some maintenance today and stopped in the town to have lunch. I remembered this huge raccoon plushie in a gift shop, and since it was still there -and- on sale, I bought it. The pic on the right shows it in my computer chair for scale. It's easily as big as a (very fat) praka. It should be useful as an art reference, though I am not sure where in my apartment I'm going to keep the thing.
It's a shame I am not into the SPH thing, 'cos this coonie would be perfect. It's by Platte River Trading, incidentally. It was originally marked at $140 but I got it for $85 plus tax. It's very soft and plushie, and really feels like a fat, furry coonie.

Hey, I got that very same one from a La-Z-Boy website back in 2001 for 60 bucks. I've been trying to find another one but the website has vanished. Did they have any more of those giant ones? I would like a new one since I've worn mine out from sleeping with it for 7 years.
There are also a smaller version and slippers that look just like the big one, all made from the same company. I bought the big one, two smaller ones, and two sets of slippers. Gave Race a pair and the small plush as gifts. I would pay you to buy and send another big one. *begs*
The store I bought it at said it was their last one and they aren't likely to order any more. Platte River Trading requires registration online before you can get a catalog, which I didn't do, but you could give it a shot:

And here is one of the raccoons for sale on another web site, but it's spendy.

Sheesh! That's a -huge- coon! I have a similar chair here at home.. it'd fill my chair even more than yours! I could toss that on the bed an it'd fill in for a person, size wise. Awesome. If I had near 170 bucks, I'd get one. Not sure what I'd -do- with it, but something would surely come up. Perhaps an animatronic vore-plush to nom on your smaller plushes so you could video tape it. ;} Yeah, I see a huge coon an my mind goes straight to vore.. go fig!
Wow, I didn't realize how big it was until I saw the last image with the chair. I haven't really seen any big ones like this anywhere, I'm really glad you came across it. And I'm glad you got a bargain on it too, that was a real smart buy on your behalf. The still life idea is neat too, I think a big raccoon is a lot more interesting than a bowl of fruit.
Thanks for sharing Strega! ^^

The thing about being a reindeer...my kind's plush ranges from tiny...all the way up to larger then "Larger then" life. Seen a photo of one in a store. The hooves were on the ground and the head was pushing up the ceiling. Where the antlers went...I haven't a clue.
As for that awesome raccoon...I am highly envious. As for buying; the answer is no. No space for one, at all.
That's OK. Life sized Ratchett gets to be at arm's length, all the time.

wow thats pretty awesome! Tried to find one online to purchase but seems like that company went out of business or is no longer around, If you still have this, is there any more information on the tag by chance or just Platte River Trading?
I'd love to find one of these, but if your ever willing to sell this one, hit me up :P
