A little color. For the shooty fans, the rifles are pretty much equivelent to MAS 49s (I have a MAS49/56)

Some of the rechambers are better than others. Mine takes milsurp 7.62x51 and commercial 308 equally well. Is the German ammo lacquered steel or brass? I've only shot brass through mine. Someone had a scope and mount for a MAS49 a while back and I didn't go for it, though now I'd like to find one. I've got the bayonet and grenade launcher attachment already.
There was a burr in the chamber but some Scotch-brite on a spindle took care of that. The offending ammunition had the DAG headstamp and brass casing. It does handle a USGI ballestite round with aplomb though. I have milsurp 7.62 NATO from many countries. The Portuguese ammo seemed to function well.
Just gets better and better. Almost time to introduce her 'leading man', all things in time.
My brother has a like-new MAS49/56 pretty much under my butt as I type this (in one of the basement safes). It has all of the accessories in their packaging, including the consumables. I think he scored it at a gun show about ten years ago, but I don't think he ever fired it.
