Long ago there lived a young human woman named Tanith, and her happy family. Well, it was actually just her and her husband at the time; but since their marriage they had longed for children to care for and to love. And so, once they were ready, they did what they needed, and a few weeks later their first child began to develop within her. And just as the child grew, so did her happiness for what was happening.
But when it came time for the birth months later, they were met with the utmost horror - the child was dead.
Both parents were very disheartened over this matter, but it was Tanith who suffered the most. For days she weeped, strucken by this as an ill omen that they'd never have a family. But her husband remained at her side throughout all of this, comforting her when she opened up, telling her that they still have a chance. After a few months both felt ready to start up their family once more.
Just as before, Tanith became pregnant, and all seemed to be going well. Whenever she could, Tanith wore a special pair of purple socks her mother had made for her, which were said to help bring her good fortune in regards to the child. Superstitions were never really her thing, but she decided that it wouldn't hurt to not wear them. The months went on, and it came time for the child to be delivered; after almost two years, they were more than ready for their family to blossom.
But fate once more was most cruel to them. The child did not survive.
Wailing in pure sorrow, Tanith broke down. Even as the husband tried to ease her, she was unresponsive; in blind misery, she ran away from the village and into the Nedé Woods. This was the last time her husband saw her like this.
Lost in her depression, Tanith wandered the woods as aimlessly as her mind tried to make sense of it all. How could this happen to her? Why was this happening to her? What had she done to deserve this? All she wanted was to raise a family and live a wonderful life; regardless of the trials and tribulations they'd endure, they'd do their best to push through. And yet, for all those months of her body nurturing her children, for the amount of pain she endured to bring them into the world, they... they were taken from her. Their lives snuffed out before they were able to recognize who it was that brought them into the world.
After days of wandering, she fell at the base of a large tree - it's violet-tinted bark seemed to swirl in surreal ways in contrast to the other trees in the woods, it's leaves shined with iridescence. Her gaze was temporarily snatched by such odd properties, before loosing interest and herself back into her pain.
"Do you wish for this pain to vanish?" a pleasant feminine voice filled her mind.
Tanith looked up, looking around for the source of the voice.
"Do you wish to be blessed with the gift of life?"
Tanith set her eyes back on the strange tree in front of her; surely the tree must be communicating with her.
"Yes... yes!!!" she cried out, tears trickling down her face, "Please... all I want... is a family to love and care for!"
The pleasant voice chimed a soft tune, "I sense goodness in your motives; I will grant you your wish."
Upon hearing the news, Tanith's face began to beam, but was cut short, "But first, I require you to surrender something. Something of value."
Tanith went stiff out of puzzlement - to be offered such a wondrous gift, but at the cost of something she holds dear... what was there?!? Does this entity not know of what she's been through? Does she not know that what she held most valuable no longer breathes of this world?
"I have nothing of value! All that I have is lost."
Tanith feels something... looking at her... studying her... but no matter where she looks, she sees nothing.
"Perhaps... something which you do have right now."
"What? These clothes that I wear? This body-" Tanith froze in place in regards to that last subject.
"Precisely! Your body will be the most perfect item of value to surrender," the voice said in a jarringly happy manner.
Tanith didn't know what to do... how could she surrender her body and yet still live the life this entity bestows her with this wish? Her mind tumbled upon itself trying to make sense of it. But then her children appeared in her mind... and her husband... and her future family. And there was joy.
"Yes!" Tanith cried out desperately, tears trickling down her face, "Take my body! Do what you must!"
"Very good."
And with that the tree started to shine a most vibrant light, surprising Tanith as she took a few steps back. But those steps were soon undone, as a brilliant figure wrapped in chromatic light came forth from the tree and drew Tanith forward into itself. Tanith's body was frozen as she hovered a foot off the ground, her eyes locked foward onto what would appear to be the entity's face. But for some reason, Tanith wasn't afraid... in fact, she a felt very... happy, at peace, pleasant... blissful. As the figure took a more solid shape, Tanith felt even happier seeing who this is who can help her. The last thing she saw, was a female figure smiling at her, one that assured her all her worries were gone, before Tanith closed her eyes as the entity's power surged into her body.
The warmth... the pleasure... it was beyond anything Tanith had ever felt before. Her body twisting itself in mid-air in graceful happiness as she felt it reshaping, having been surrendered to this wonderful entity. Her spine elongated, dragging her legs with it as forelimbs formed below her belly - these forelimbs, as well as her legs, took the shape of horse legs, but capped by the hooves of a ram. Her spine culminated in a short tail covered in the same orange hair that resided upon her head. Her hands started to reshape, fingers merging together until each hand sported three, each one having a small hoof where the fingernail would be. Her head began to tingle with pleasant energies - her nose and ears morphed into more features in common with the ram. This was soon followed by even more of such features, with the pressure near the top-sides of her head culminating into masses of of bone and keratin curling forth from her head and around her new ears.
And then came the final change. In both her upper and lower bodies, she began to feel a familiar feeling... life. But the blessing this entity of bliss bestowed her was not an understatement by any means. For all the waiting she's done and pain she's endured, her children had matured within her at a most surprising rate, as both bellies swelled to sizes even more-so than full term. Even though she was suspended in air by the power, Tanith could still feel the weight of them both... and loved it.
At long last, the entity's work was complete, and settled Tanith back onto the ground, who was still consumed with euphoria. The sudden gravity of her two bellies helped to snap her out, but only somewhat as she opened her eyes towards Bliss.
"This... is... amazing! This is... aaauuwwww!!!" Tanith tried to speak, but the remnant energies were still occupying her being.
The entity smiled back, "May you live a long and happy life."
With that, she dissappeared back into the tree. By the time Tanith was able to open her eyes again, the tree... looked like all the other ones.
But it didn't matter what the tree looked like. What mattered, is that... she could finally live the life she had wanted.
It took sometime for her husband and the other villagers to get used to Tanith's new form. But in time this was overshadowed by that special day, and this time, it truly was a special day. Tanith gave birth to a beautiful daughter and son, who were already quite big and developed, but still young enough for their parents to enjoy them at such a young age. Admittedly, the pregnancy was quite unusual for Tanith, having not given birth though the body of an animal, but it was but a mere quirk compared to the outcome.
Over the years their family progressed, children growing up and the parents performing their community and family duties. What trials and tribulations came their way the made through, their strength and love pulling through. Both human children expressed awe at how different looking Mommy was, always asking just how she ended up like that, compared to Daddy or all the other villagers. The tale of how she ended up that way was one which was difficult for her to explain, but no matter how she explained it, everyone had little choice but to believe how such a tale had ended... with her dream coming true.
Thus is the Tale of Tanith Valinelle.
I... REALLY enjoyed working with this project~!
As a fan of centaurs, I've been wanting to draw another one for the Year of the Horse for quite some time. The opportunity arose, so I took it, before the Year of the Ram "officially" starts in accordance to the Chinese New Year. But as a sort of transitional piece, this lead to her acquiring numerous ram features, resembling a ram-taur as opposed to a regular centaur.
As for the pregnancy? Well, the hyper pregnancy (maybe not as hyper as others, but still pretty big)? Let's just say... I was inspired. The upper belly was actually more tame originally, but... I felt like making it bigger, just because... I can. ;P
I admit, the lineart part wasn't too too exciting (which is usually the case), but the sketching and colour/shading afterwords was so much fun! And then there's the background. Oh... my... goodness. Now THAT... was fun! Still mildly simple, but the techniques I was using to create just made the whole process so enjoyable.
For how impressive (I must admit) the story is, I pretty much typed it up on the spot. I had a vague idea about a woman having difficulties with birth, being blessed by Bliss with a fun body and being able to have children. Of course, it could have happened without the fun body, but hey, it ended up working out in regards to what she had to surrender~
When I was drawing this out, I knew who the subject was going to be: my unnamed pregnant character from my Purple Pregnancy Socks picture on deviantArt. Thought I'd stick to the pregnancy theme with her and bring her back from the past.
Really, really fun piece. I hope people can enjoy it! ^_^

Eeee! Thank you very much! ^_^
Certainly, some good stories just come from quick thinking in regards to a picture. Have a stimilus often helps; I tend to struggle a bit more when I just have a few words or nothing to work with. As the saying goes: "A picture is worth a thousand words." ^^
