No, I do it with regular layers, though I'm experimenting with using the line tool for outlines but I'm not sure I'll like it, I'll see how it looks when I'm done if I keep that layer.

Open your canvas/image, click on "View" at the top, then click on "New". Whatever is drawn on one will appear on the other, once you finished a line :3 (it doesn't appear live, only when you lift your hand and stop drawing)

Wow. your lines are great for using just the normal brushes! For outlines, i just select the background, then invert it, then increment it a couple times then bucket fill it. Usually do this under the color layers though.

Yup, I often do that too but often it comes out bad, mostly since I usually use brushes with some texture or soft brushes.

Ah, well you can always fix up the edges a bit or something. *shrug*

It ends up taking more time if the edges are off all around the image :P

Well. I mean more of the points, since it tends to mess what up. *tired, bad at explaining* I would just suggest experimenting more with the line tool.

When you have a textured brush, doing an outline with invert leaves bumps all over the outline, and it looks off since textures aren't a hard line while the outline is.

Srory. I didn't understand what you said at first. Pretty tired right now as I said. Kind of dumb you cant' set textures to the line tools.
