Alone Together 9
Not mentioned are the big scary shadow fish in the deeper waters and the sand fleas and that this is a very tropical location so it is very hot and muggy ALL the time. The dates on the side of each page was the date that I scripted and penciled each page. The inking and color have been done within a day or so of posting here.

Be glad she did not step on a rock fish. Their spines hurt BAD!
I see fish come in bite size.
Most pacific islands, like the atoll in your story, usually have a constant breeze. When the breeze stops it is a good indication of a storm brewing... like a typhoon. I know. Been there, done that. (including the fishing.)

Its a bit more miserable than that. The middle and western regions of the Great Ocean is very shallow, as that area is a drowned continental mass, so the weather is very steamy. The island is towards the edge of it, but the prevailing winds are of the desert-inducing type, so while there is moisture, there isn't the right convection processes for rain to go with it.
When I went to Hawai'i for my first duty station, I was already well into wearing dive boots for *all* of my water adventures. Unless I'm on sandy beach, I pretty much refuse to go into any natural body of water without *something* on my feet, for this very reason.
As for the salt itch, you *can* avoid that if you dry off quickly? But as you point out, this is an equatorial climate, so getting dry isn't going to happen quickly.
Let's hope she manages to avoid ciguatera poisoning.

Sadly, not Danni's best day. Must be a country or city girl; if she grew up on the shore, she's be used to the sea bugs.
The perspectives in these panels are clever; each frame from a different angle.
Don't Bogart that joint, my friend...
Well, she's got lots of concrete for grinding; extra / damaged rifle cleaning rods make satisfactory skewers when sharpened. Leaves the fish-kebab tasting... brassy, though. The perspectives in these panels are clever; each frame from a different angle.
