This is an awesome image. I can't help but recall Clarence Day's observation of if Cats became as intelligent instead of Humans in his book "This Simian World." Even in the early 20th Century he mused that the cat people would be ferocious fighters and all too proud of their appearance and skills. I also am reminded a lot of all those "Kazinti" stories penned by Larry Niven.
Of course true to the story "The Jungle Book," by Kipling, I find this modern interpretation of the Shere-Kahn character fascinating. It is such a contrast in the character to show him so ferocious, yet having a sort of a "Caring" side to seek the parents of the Man cub. If I recall the story correctly, The tiger's only desire at first was to eat the human child, but later he became a fierce guardian and guide of Mowgli.
I really like how you handled the textures in this image as well. The contrasts between fabrics and fur are well done.

The whole idea of a Jungle Book set in a steampunk world of airships and pirates is just irresistible. I'm really loving these. These are a fantastic interpretation and a really, really creative way of bringing some already great characters to life in a new way. (I especially liked the stripes that give a subtle nod to Mowgli's relationship with Shere Khan, though perhaps I should have commented on that on Mowgli's pic)
Benedict Cumberbatch will be Shere Khan in the upcoming Jungle Book: Origins movie.
