Rhea Snaketail, the character in this iamge, is from Slightly Damned the Webcomic, made by Chu.
An idle doodle turned into a full project, and turned out decent, IMO.
Really like the lighting here, and I took a bit of a different approach at things to keep the light-source uniform between objects.
When I draw things of Rhea, I feel I have a right to call myself a fan there. A whole lot more effort goes into drawing things of her than goes into most of my own artwork. When I try to consider why that would be the case rather than the other way around, I realize that this is one of the few times where my art is intended to be end rather than a gateway or an aspect of a greater project (usually, games. My current goal is to become a great Game Developer). And so it goes. Anyway, I like the result of that extra effort this time, similar to last time I did a Rhea pic mostly for me.
I thought about making my own character that was similar to Rhea but lacked the strong ties to the original product, but thinking about it a bit more, I realize that Rhea is simply not a character I could have come up with, and not a character I could write for very well right now. I probably find her so fascinating because my internal concept of the character is something of a mystery box I've yet to open and figure out.
I'm stuck somewhere between wanting to reform and make my footprint on the net something worth following and good, and thinking about how my flaws are a large part of who I am and trying to bury them is lying to myself.
But there's no reset button for my traces all over the place, so I'll just try to do better now.

Yes most of the existing explicit works are a whole lot more anthropomorphic than she appeared in the comic around 2008, and yes the gown was removable. Chu's already harassed me enough on the topic though that I jumped ship months ago and made my own surrogate character for the occasional urges for a character of a similar look.
To put it simply, the lineart for the nightgown was on its own layer, and the color for the nightgown was also on its own layer. If I remember right anyway.
The thing is, I personally kinda prefer the type of featureless nudes you see a lot in older style cartoons than explicit representations of genitalia. (Usually. Not always. But this i one of those cases.) So I think she probably looks like that under there. I don't have openCanvas anymore though, so I don't think I can check it. I probably have the oc3 native or event file on my site somewhere though. I don't even remember.

Most of the ones you've seen on Fchan in the last year of time got reposted over to paheal's rule34. The good ones, the not-that-great-ones and so on. The main ones that didn't get posted are the ones I did forever ago and destroyed any copies I had of the first time Chu bitched at me, and minor edits and variations of those few good ones that got posted around.
But good is relative. And on-model representations of those characters in fanart is about as uncommon as on-model fanart of Yoshi.
