These are from the same sort of world as Dust Bunnies and pygmy hippos and that sort of thing- a secret fantastical creature no one sees but lives amung us.
While i was sketching i ended up with the guy on the top and somehow that hook shape made its way next to him, so i made up a lil story about the, and i sketched the second guy on the bottom
So for anyone interested, these are the little details i sketched down the other day about them:
Their very very small as you can see, and their made of miscroscopic needles, but like a "dust bunny" they have no real substance upon closer examination. Some theorize that some sort of magic holds it together although there is little evidence and has yet to be proven due to lack of test subjects, much less logical ways of testing this.
There are two kinds: Aquatic (as seen on the top sketch) and Land (as seen on the bottom sketch)
Both of these filter feed, but in different ways:
Aquatic: filter feeds the water for the same sort of food source as sponges. These are seen more often but are often mistaken as disgarded fishing lures at first glance. The mysterious metal they are made up of doesn't not rust, although no one is really sure if the metal is of earthly origin or not- for reasons stated above.
Land: Seen very seldom, perhaps because of their appearance and lack of a reasonable explanation, perhaps because they are simply more shy. These filter feed off of dust mites and small particle in the air around them, so they tend to prefer to live in homes as the indoor air holds much more food than outdoor air, where it is carried off much too easily.
Neither has a mouth to speak of, but filter feeds through its entire body as a sponge does in the water, and they prefer places with a steady draft or current, so you'll typically find more in castles and older homes, as well as rivers and streams, and very few in shallower ocean areas.
>^.^< so yeah, tell me what you think of them. (btw the book in the bottom picture is meant to be a smaller book at very close range, rather than a larger book.
