^_^ Thank you. It's around 55cm, from the tip of its nose to the tip of the horns. Made from foam, epoxy and paper mache.

Completely awesome! May I inquire about materials? I've used a few things to get scales on my masks working but always failed - is this papier mache? Looks a bit like it, but considering what you've done... yeah. Insane :)

The scales were made with paper mache, mashed into a paste so it was moldable. I wouldn't use this method again, since it has a very textured finish, and doing finer details is quite difficult.
I'd be curious to see these masks you've done :)

Oh, but the texture is pure awesome! Seriously, part of why it's sitting at that happy middle ground of suspension of disbelief, and stylization.

Getting things to look vaguely symmetrical was a pain in the ass >< A few things are slightly off, like the horns being different lengths and shapes, but I figure a bit of lop-sidedness doesnt hurt.

Thank you. The texture wasn't intentional, but I didn't really know what I was doing at the time. I'm working on another mask at the moment, that I will cast in latex. Shouldn't be too long to complete now...

Do it! Given your abilities with a drawn medium, I think a mask of such a nature from you would look amazing :D I'd certainly like to see.

I occasionally make costumes for anime conventions, too. I've done a bit with carving foam, and that was a ton of fun. This costume is mostly made of carved foam, covered in cloth for that smoother appearance. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3952977/ It's nowhere as detailed as your mask, but is was definitely fun to make and wear.

It might be a lot of fun to take on a challenge like this, and try to make something great like this. Maybe I'll have to play around with some more materials.
How did you paint it? Is it airbrushed, or did you use a different method?
