Chai is somehow related to the King of Sorrow - don't ask how, even I don't know xD I just wanted to make her look a bit like the King since I love him so much..
Anyway, despite being a Hyuponian, Chai grew up in La-Lakoosha. :3 She's considered becoming a priestess, but in the end thought it'd prevent her from adventuring Lunatea freely.
