Yes, don't be afraid to experiment, it can lead to exciting results! That's why I allow all my artists some artistic freedom and discussion with me. It's healthy for both parties.
As for her ears I initially did think they glowed in the dark, perhaps experiment some with fur and the way in which you border the ears? x3 Not saying it doesn't look good the way she is, just trying to keep the ball rolling along all the possible paths it may take~
