Another phone photo (my phone's just decided it can connect to my computer after all, so I've been sifting through some random pictures). I just wanted to share this one too, because she's such a beautiful horse! And huuuuge too! I know her plaits don't match her sash, the green ones had gone walkabout. :P

Which reminds me. We tried to trim her hooves. She lifted her hoof up then planted it back down with the atitude of "I am bigger than you I dont have to lift it" and there was no way I can make her. She was not lashing out in any way just kept all 4 planted and refused to pick them up. Any advice?
Hahahah! Oh dear. Heavies know what they can get away with... :P
My methods are to lean on the shoulder as I ask them to pick their feet up, and/or run your hand firmly down the back of the leg leg, squeeze the tendon and ask them to lift. A good handful of feathers at the fetlock helps too, but I don't suppose your Belgian has much of them!

She knows shes a big girl and she does not have to listen to me if she dont want to. She has never lashed out... never kicked, never bit never anything. If she does not like something she just walks away. If your trying to stop her she will drag me with her like a 250lb sack of potatos.
It took 3 forevers to catch her when I got her as she was fairly neglected. The way I finally got her and lead her into my trailer was by putting her baby in there. Her baby loves people and she is fairly neurotic about her baby so once baby was in she followed along behind her. She is getting a lot better around me but I still get the feeling of "why are you being nice to me? What do you want? Nobody has been nice to me before"

I have been working on a mini horse nobody could catch and would try to kill you if you caught her. I have got her leading, letting me pet her and lifting her legs up... big improvement. I have worked with others in the past mostly my walker fillys. One got caught in a fence not long after she was born and was terrified of everything. First time I had to catch her was due to a cut on her leg. I got drug around the barn and still do not have any feeling in a part of my left leg where I was drug over some metal. By the time she went to a new home she had it all down pat and would try to outsmart you. Another we had a cross between a morgan and a shetland (that was an intresting breeding to watch. His new owner says it only takes a couple of times to show him and he will learn just about anything... and try to outsmart you.
