Original: Cascada (Hear the Original Here)
Yes. A bit of a random choice for a cover, but last week I suddenly had the idea of covering this track as an orchestrated track. I think the chords work for something more melodic and slower in tempo. So, here we are... the end result of my imagination.
I have also sung over this, but am not done with the vocals. I also may cut out a lot of the instruments and strip it back to piano, some strings and add acoustic guitar into the mix, but it will need a bit more work and re-mixing etc.
I would like to dedicate this (and a future vocal version) to
transporter. He has been a long time fan of mine who I think likes the original.
I am still learning, so please be gentle! I did all of this by hand and am still teaching myself how to mix and so on. :)

Much more likeable than the original indeed, and I can't find too much wrong with this either. Personally I found the vibrato on the viola part in the last third of the song a bit unsettling after a while - somehow it's just a bit too much, or would rather do with less of it. Again, the rest is just fine to me, one to look out for with vocals all the more.
The Violin is described as "romantic" in the style it is played (the VST I mean) so I think that's why it's vibrato-heavy. I do tend to agree with you, it's a bit much towards the end of the main chorus. I am not that familiar with the VST yet so am I still learning about keyswitching when playing on the piano :) it's a bit complicated. I think it's less biting when it isn't really high notes? I think it's tolerable, but can see where you're coming from. I lean towards the romantic style for the violin because it sounds a bit more natural than the not so expressive violin VSTs.
Thanks for the input/criticism, it all helps me grow as a musician :) Thanks for listening :D

Trans has been a loooong time watcher of mine, so he is due some appreciation! It's just a shame it took me this long. :3 You're welcome to suggest a favourite song of yours for me to cover one day. I just can't guarantee anything will happen for another decade lol XD
It's finished as it is, but I was thinking of doing a bonus version with the vocals. I have a vocal test run if you want... I can note it.

Oooh! :D It's a really catchy tune for sure. I already did a test run with vocals with a WIP version of the instrumental, it sounded ok but I thought it sounded better with just the piano and some guitar than the full orchestra. Thanks you for listening, I hope I do the vocal version if have you waiting for it :)
Hi :3! Thanks for listening to my track.
For the cello and violin, the two soloists in there, I used Kirk Hunter Diamond Strings. They're actually inexpensive for what you get out of them, I am actually very fond of the library. They're VST instruments. I played everything by hand so I just selected the instruments then played them over the piano.
For the Pizzicato strings I used East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra (Gold Edition).
The pizzicato strings are fantastic actually, one of my favourite things from the library. :D

Nice! East West make some serious products.
I've found that using a sampler for strings and automating the attack can really help to get more definition on parts of a melody with shorter notes. It can't compare with having a human bowing the instrument, but it definitely helps.

I've always loved this song, but sometimes the original is a bit too energetic, and so I absolutely love when people take energetic dance pieces and do relaxing instrumental covers. The melodies often lend themselves very well to softer pieces. Excellent piece, was a joy to listen to!
They do, you're right. This one is very uplifting and quite emotive, so it struck me as a good choice for an orchestral type thing. Although I have limitations, I did what I could with it. :) Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment! I am very happy that you enjoyed it :)!
