If all you told was turned to gold,
If all you dreamed was new,
Imagine sky high above
In Caribbean blue ...

Some of you might recognise this concept straight away if you've been watching me for quite a few years already and remember this!
I'm not normally one to remake my old paintings, but I've always wanted to revisit this image. It's one of my own personal favourites and based on one of my favourite songs ever, Enya - Caribbean Blue.
I've been looking back at the painting for a good few years now and I kind of didn't dare touch it again since it held a lot of sentimental value to me (still does!), but I finally felt like I was ready to give it a new go. And I'm happy I did it, it's cool to notice that there seems to be a lot of improvement, especially with colours and value. The original painting was done back when I seemed to be quite scared of using either of them.
The feeling of the image is slightly different, but I couldn't really help that, I didn't want to just redraw the image in exactly the same way but rather revisit the concept. At least the fox looks more like a fox now!
It's also interesting to notice how fast and more confident I've become with painting, the new one took me probably even less time than the old one. I started it yesterday afternoon and finished it this morning (with a long sleep in between hhaha)
Who knows, maybe I'll remake this again in the next 5 years and see where I'll be then! Improving never stops and it's fun to look back.
Here's the old one from my gallery:
