Our assignment for our Biology class is to basically create a race of hominids or aliens who have evolved a specific adaptation to their planet, which is covered entirely by one type of ecosystem. I chose to create a race of pygmy/hippo/elephant type people, whose jungle-planet is gravitationally high and filled with thousands of scents, some potentially harmful, others beneficial. To separate out the good from the bad scents, they have adapted a thick bundle of nerves and a highly developed olfactory center in their trunks, and here are several pages of sketches and outlines I've done in developing this idea as a species, a people, and a world thus far.
