This is the most cartoonish I've done. As part of that, I guess, the digitigrade-ness is exaggerated; at its most simplified, a digitigrade leg is a ball of muscle and bone, with a long stick coming out of it and touching the ground. I guess that's a more bird-like way of thinking of it, but still, it feels more elegant and cartoony to me.

I can complain all I want about how penciling is fun and looks cool and inking/coloring is not fun and doesn't always capture the pencils... but what happens when you actually 'finish' something is, it makes it jump out at you more. This colored picture here is basically what I pictured when I looked at the original sketch (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15705647/ ) but I had to do a LOT more picturing in order for that to work. And inking & coloring only took two hours or less.
Anyway... to continue the rant from the pencils. As I read more and think more about what I actually think aliens look like, I *am* starting to do more actual drawing of aliens. My goal really is to draw really compelling pictures of aliens. And by compelling I basically mean cute. There are other emotions which would be nice to portray, but essentially I want to be able to draw something completely COMPLETELY alien, but do it in a relatable way as if I'm someone who's grown up around aliens and enjoys their company.
I mean, that's why I like drawing rogers after all - they're not humans. They may not be as alien as I like, but they're not as anthro as a vast majority of anthro art.
