Whoops. I wanted to do a Monster Girl Monday sketch while taking my lunch break but instead we got a Canis Corpus headworld sketch!
I was asked a while back about if the gods who created the races could also create other life. I recall giving a vague answer of yeah they can. However, most non god-token races (Humans, Werewolves, Vampires, and Pricolici created as the avatars of the four) are actually not god-made, but born out of the myths and terrors of the token races themselves.
The Lunar Hound (Also known as the Night Hound to some) is a monstrous wolf with six moon-like eyes and full of stardust instead of blood and organs. Biirthed from the terrors and speculations of werewolves, little is known to the origin of the Lunar Hounds in werewolf society, but their earliest culture depicts a large dark monstrous wolf eating those that are said disloyal to The Watcher, though that is simply a translation of the drawing.
Various cultures take on the beast ranges from them coming to eat troublemakers, warmongers, and traitors or even coming to take away naughty children as a sort of boogeyman. Others may say that they're actually a spy or scout for the goddess herself, given a chance to redeem themselves for turning from her path. Other rumors range from there being only one in existence to there being one for every werewolf who puts on the 'wrong' skin and becomes trapped in a new, mutilated body for going against their nature.
TRIVIA:
*There are at least 2 Lunar Hounds as there have been sightings of both a black one, and one colored after an Indian Wolf.
*Some cultures as capital punishment will leave out the prisoners to be eaten or spirited away by Lunar Hounds.
*They're picky eaters, however, and often they only eat the left arm and the head of their victims.
*They're trackable from the faint trails of stardust (sparklyyy) they leave. Not recommended.

Aaah all this backstory you give them! Lovely big horrible things, I like how there's so many different takes on who they are, what they really do, and why they exist, while they actually do go about doing SOMETHING and they do truly exist! I also like how you did that light-on-dark background, with their paw sort of 'pushing' the darker shade into the lighter one, maybe that has a meaning of itself too?? xP
Also I swear I'll get around to posting that adorable Plumechien you so kindly gave, still need to catch up on posting some other things I've gotten xD

I like to think their actual origins are pretty neat too (AKA what spawned the fear of...large black monstrous werewolf like things. HmmmMMMmmm!)! There are actually 'monsters' like this for each of the gods as well given certain affinities they have for basic 'animals'. Examples being The Imprisoned is affiliated with Horses (hence humans treat them so well even when they're animals of labor) but there is also a monstrous horse-like thing also associated with him. In turn, the Bloodless is associated with insects (broadly) but specifically has ties to Centipedes, and The Hands is related to a monster known as a 'Grinder' (which might I just say I fuckin' love the Grinders, even if nobody else in my headworld will. Giant headless blender-mouth-teeth-neck-dogs with insatiable hunger)
Hey, now that sounds even more neat! Admittedly, there's a lot of exceptionally horrifying things in RL mythos, and from the sounds of it, you're incorporating some very believable mythos along similar lines, to the point where I think I'd be positively terrified of just living in your headworld since all lot of the horrors people whisper about would be REAL xD
And circular blender teeth faceneckthing??? Can I just, run in the other direction until the end of time xP

It'll definitely be a story that's written since it relates to a few characters (and because who doesn't want to imagine horrors out in the world! Muahaha!). I've always been a mythology hound (hurr) so getting to write it up all for my own headworld is entirely gravy for me.
AHAHA. You could try! They don't have eyes and they can't climb so I'd say a tree is your safest bet! The lack of eyes does seem to make 'try to intimidate them off' a problem though. (Grinder v Lunar Hound, place your bets now!!)
