Nothing ever says that a god is immortal. They might be all powerful and capable of wiping out an entire race with the wave of a paw or snap of their fingers but that doesnt mean they cannot be harmed. Spikes here is no exception. An adventurer managed to best the draolf in a fight and was able to slay the dragon wolf. However, they didnt exactly finish the job. Spikes was able to reanimate himself as a skeleton. It will take a long while for him to regenerate his actual body so he will be forced to only move about at night. Because an animated skeleton that is easily taller than a two-story house is clearly normal.
