After the defeat of Sunset Shimmer, Canterlot High had been pretty much returned to as normal as any high school could be. However, the scene of peace and friendship left by Twilight Sparkle and her friends would soon change. One day, out of the blue, three girls enrolled at Canterlot High and since their arrival, a tempest of hostility and jealousy has pitted friends against each other in a battle for supremacy.
Emotionally distant Aria Blaze, carefree Sonata Dusk, and manipulative leader Adagio Dazzle, collectively known as The Dazzlings, reveled in the chaos that surrounded them as they watched students arguing as they left school for the day. "How horrible," Adagio feinting shock gasped. "It would seem that our classmates are at each others throats, and no one knows why." "Yeah, what a tragedy," Aria chuckled to herself. "It's like, something, or someone, is causing them to act this way." Adagio grinned in delight. "I hope it's not the tacos. These things are delicious!" Sonata said as she ate yet another taco. "Man, I just love Taco Tuesday!"
"It's not the tacos, Sonata. It's us!" Adagio said as she sighed and held her head. "These pendants we found give us the power to manipulate the emotions of these helpless fools into doing our bidding. Or did you forget that while you stuffed your face with those accursed tacos?" Sonata looked up at Adagio, her mouth covered with bits of taco shell and meat.
"It looks like they're all gone, Sonata." Aria noted. "We're the only ones still here." Adagio nodded and began to pull on her face. Sonata and Aria watch as her face warped and stretched like it was made of rubber. "I always love when she does this," Sonata giggled. "She looks just like a cartoon character. "You're so easily amused, Sonata" Aria groaned. "Gosh, why do you have to be THE WORST?" "Oh yeah? Well I think you're the worst." Sonata replied as the two began to get into an argument. "Both of you, shut up!" Adagio said in a deeper voice. Aria and Sonata turned to see that in reality, Adagio was really a dark-skinned boy with spiky hair put up in a ponytail. "My gosh, just because you two are dressed like teenagers, doesn't mean you have to act like them."
"Oh right." Sonata giggles as she pulled off her mask to reveal a boy with blue hair put up in a ponytail. "Sorry, Ced. I tend to forget that at times. Guess I'm having too much fun reliving my teenage years." "At least you get to have fun," Aria said pulling off her mask to reveal a boy with short black hair. "Ced, why do I have to be the gloomy one? Why does Cody get to be the idiot?" "Marc, we didn't pick the costumes. The pendants picked them for us." Ced replied, trying to calm Marc down. "Besides, have you seen how those boys drop everything to please us? Just enjoy the ride." Marc just crossed his arms and watched as Cody stuffed another taco in his face.
"We have a very good thing going for us right now," Ced said with a sinful grin on his face. "Once we have enough Equestrian magic built up from these brats' bickering, we will be able to control this and any other world we want. Just think of the possibilities. Countless servants, unlimited riches." "Taco Tuesday everyday?" Cody interrupted in excitement. "Yes, Cody, even week long Taco Tuesdays." Ced said rolling his eyes. "Look, this school is getting ready to put on a talent competition. All we have to do is turn this sweet little showcase of individuality into a clash of egos, and it'll pay off in a very big way."
The three put their masks back on and adjusted them to their faces. "Come on, girls." Adagio said feeling confident in her plan. "We need our rest for our plan to work tomorrow in the cafeteria. I'm sure it will get this school in the mood for a battle." The Dazzlings left the school to work on their fiendish plan to get Canterlot High riled up for what they hoped would be the battle to end all battles.
"Hey!" Sonata said after realizing what Aria had said. "Who are you calling an idiot?"
The rest, as they say...is history.
