Eek! Hyoomins!
I've developed my own RPG, and commissioned artwork for the races inhabiting it.

Game (and the description below) are mine.
Humans in the Fantastic Empires are typically just over 5 feet tall. Most humans have swarthy, olive-colored skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. Fair skin and light-colored hair are very rare among humans.
The human confederation is a collection of city-states, similar to Greece before the rise of its nationalism. The various city-states share a common language (Greek) and culture, but little else. Delphi is ruled by the Council of Oracles, an oligarchic congress of magi. Athens is governed by a representative democracy. Sparta is ruled by a king. Ephesus, Rhodes, Ba-Rael, and Ru-Err are governed by feudal trade families. Each city mints is own coinage, has its own set of laws and customs, and reveres the different gods of the Greek pantheon to different degrees. Although the various city states will band together for mutual support in times of great need, they are rivals and strife between members of the confederacy is commonplace.
The Confederation is largely an island nation. Athens, Rhodes, and Delphi are all on separate islands. The cities on the continent have good access to the ocean or to highways. Furthermore, the Confederation is centrally located on the continent. Consequently, most of the continent’s trade passes through the Confederation, brining much wealth with it. The hills near Ru-Err and Ba-rael are rich in iron, and the Greek Confederation controls most of the supply of iron on the continent.
Humans worship the Greek gods. Although the various Greek gods are revered throughout the confederation, the various city-states have preferences. The most prominent temple in Athens is dedicated to Athena, and Ephesus has a grand temple dedicated to Artemis.

Thanks. Alex is a bit of a history buff, and it shows in the real-world elements of his work. Off all the pieces he did for me, the Greeks had the least fantasy elements, so he got to show off. But if you've got an eye for detail, you'll pick out the Japanese elements in the Draconians, the Aztec elements of the Elves, the African elements in the Myr'Shon, and the Roman elements in the Wolven.
BTW, the background in the Greeks piece is a real-world bit of Greek coastline. Alex does his research.
