After sitting on my butt through most of my Birthday weekend, I came home tonight intent to do some rough work. What originally started as a weight-gain image of Rolly from '101 Dalmatians,' snowballed into another character I have never seen expanded upon: Tanya Mousekewitz.
What attracts me to expand some characters, is when they are usually depicted as being rather thin. Plus, part of me figured that if Cat R Waul wished Tanya to truly become a 'diva,' well, it seems most divas in our culture seem to become full-figured rather quickly.
I had a substory in my head for some years, of Cat R Waul having Tanya eating 5-6 meals of cheese a day, prompting her to quickly swell up well beyond even Momma Mousekewitz's size. I figure given her size here, Tanya would be about the size of one of the smaller cats. As well, I could imagine Cat R Waul billing her as:
"Tonya, the biggest little diva in the West."
As well, like any stage-name, her last name would be changed to 'Mousekeweightz.'
These are just rough pencils to get down her dimensions. I wanted it to look like they'd kept altering her dress the larger she got, until they'd let it out to the maximum it could go, riding up on her enormous mid-section. As well, it also looks like her feet could burst out of her slippers at any moment.
The head is mainly there as a rough outline, as I also added some extra lines to make her cheeks bigger, and some lines to give her an extra chin.
One can almost imagine her jiggling home after a performance, squeezing into the Mousekewitz's hovel, catching her breath, and then starting on the latest meal delivered by Cat R Waul after the night's performance.
...yes, there's a story in this whole thing. Though first, I'm trying to get myself to properly render this into a nice lineart form. I have been watching the artwork of such weighty artists as HectorTheWolf, and his art has definitely been a contributor in making me actually get off my can and draw something like this.
