While on the ranch, Oswald was making his usual rounds and checking on the Pokemon in his care. While venturing over to where the Garchomp and Salamence left in his care, he noticed an egg. Dropping his broom, he went to go check on the egg. He knew that the two Pokemon were getting along well, especially since one was from a Kalos trainer and the other from a Hoenn trainer. Still, he didn't realize they were getting along that well.

After picking up the egg, he noticed the Garchomp towering over him, broom in mouth. He wasn't used to taking care of Pokemon like Garchomp and he especially didn't know what the Pokemon thought of him. For all he knew, the Garchomp decided to lure him into a trap, a trap filled with teeth and pain. Still, he took the broom carefully, the Garchomp seeming to be happy to help out Oswald.
