I've always wondered why the official interpretations of the star wars universe never have black sabers, hell kotor II had white sabers. so why is it left to independant artists to bring this notion to life?

Oh they have 'em. I believe there WAS one it the books- there's an unlockable one in Force Unleashed, and one in the JA+ Jedi Academy mod. (tho that one had a Black glow, which was awfully dull and redundent)

Please note, I came up with that particular effect half a month BEFORE The Force Unleashed was released!! Tho I'll admit, their white glow on black was a bit more strikeing <.<
