So you want to make a pizza, right? Why not three? I like variety. So here’s my technique to making Pepperoni, Pineapple and Mushroom.
For preparing PIZZA DOUGH
What you need:
- 2 Mixing bowls (1 small, 1 large)
- 1 tablespoon of yeast
- 1 ½ cups of warm water
- 3 ½ cups of flour
- ½ cup of vegetable oil (¼ to add to flour and ¼ to sauté mushrooms).
- ½ teaspoon of salt
Directions:
* In a bowl, mix the yeast into warm water. When mixing, bubbles should appear… this is a sign that the yeast is becoming active. Let it sit for three minutes.
* In another (larger) mixing bowl, place flour and add the salt.
* Push the flour to the sides of the bowl until you have a crater in the center.
* Pour in the yeast/ water mixture into the crater of the flour.
* Mix with a spoon or fork until the water mixture is completely absorbed into the dough.
* The dough may be a little dry so pour in the vegetable oil.
* Work the oil into the dough (USE YOUR HANDS).
*Remove the dough from the bowl and use your hands to roll the dough into a ball. Slap the dough to soften it.
* Once the dough is rolled into a ball and there are no clumpy parts to it, place back into the bowl, cover it with a towel and place the bowl on top of a counter.
* Let the dough sit for (no more than) two hours.
* When you return to the dough, it should have expanded to twice its size and be softer than before.
** Your dough is now ready to make Pizza!
For Making PIZZA
What you need:
- Oven
- 1 cutting board
- 3 flat pans (sizes can vary to whatever you have to work with)
- Pizza Dough
- 1 Pound of shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 6 ounces White Mushrooms
**Sautee the mushrooms separately in ¼ cup of oil in a skillet for 12 minutes. Remove from oil and set aside.
- 1, 20 ounce can of sliced Pineapple
** Remove pineapple from juice and slice into pieces and set aside.
- 7 ounces of pre-sliced Pepperoni (any brand, preferably US-Grade)
- 1, 24 ounce can/ container of Mushroom and Bell pepper Spaghetti Sauce (I prefer Kroger or Ragu brand)
- 3 spoons of vegetable oil
Directions:
* Preheat oven to 350 degree’s Fahrenheit.
* Take dough out of mixing bowl and pat into a ball. Roll out slightly on cutting board and cut into 3 equal pieces.
* Place 1 spoon of cooking oil on each flat pan. Use a napkin to spread the oil across the surface of each pan.
* Place 1 dough piece in each pan. Use fingers and palms of hands to spread dough across surface until the entire pan is covered in dough.
* Place each pan into oven and bake dough for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove pans (careful, they are hot!) and carefully lift dough bread and flip each one over and place back over each designated pan.
*Place back in oven and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes.
* Remove pans from oven and place each one on a heat resistant surface/ working counter. The flattened dough is now flat bread.
* Put ½ cup of spaghetti sauce on each flat bread surface.
* Sprinkle 1 ½ cups of cheese on each flat bread surface.
* Placed sautéed mushrooms on one flat bread surface.
* Place sliced pineapple slices on one flat bread surface.
* Place pepperoni slices on one flat bread surface.
* All you should be left with at this point is just left-over spaghetti sauce. Place this in fridge since you don’t need it anymore.
* Place each pan back in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. When the cheese is melted and the crust starts to brown a little bit, the pizza is done.
*Remove from oven and place back on heat resistant surface.
* Let the pizzas cool for 7 minutes.
