Because
chizmo and I are havin' motivational troubles when it comes to The Arts, and the only way to cure that is to confront it and cure it by force >:(
ALso by doing sketches like this :>
So while I'm happy with some parts, I'm not happy with others (Dilo's arms and feet, Claws legs...) but overall... Tis okay for a sketch I think maybe kinda sorta.
So what are they talking about? Well Dilo was all excited about some naval weapon, and Claw was just like "Big whoop". Dilo kind of figured Claw would be more interested, since she tends to like weapon things, but she countered by referencing a game she's been playing recently and one I've loved for ages.
Red Alert. Specifically, Red Alert 2. The Allies have a War Dolphin as their special naval unit, which was your typical bottlenose dolphin.... Cute, playful, and has a sonic emitter strapped to its back and spends its time sinking Destroyers and Battleships. A-yup. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
(For the curious, the Soviets - and yes they're still around - have a Giant Squid that sinks ships by dragging them underwater or shaking them to pieces. Joy.)
Red Alert was always a zany place. Time Travel, Psychic powers, Soldier Cloning, Weather Control Machines, Teleportation, one of the antagonists gets eaten by a T-rex in the Soviet ending of Red Alert 2's expansion!
Makes me think tho... Dino D-Day and Red Alert both have a similar spin on Alternate Universe/History humor. Would make a great cross-over I think!

Yah, they're similar in a few ways really. Assuming the devs of DDD don't canonically kill off the dinosaurs in their comic, that would set up a plethora of interesting developments for the future. Red Alert split in several ways, the Soviet Union never collapsed, and it created two alternate universes after the Chronosphere Incident. One turned out more serious and 'dark' (Command & Conquer) and the other was more zany and over-the-top (Red Alert).
Command & Conquer had a brief Dinosaur scenario that spanned a few missions, involving Tyrannosaurs, Velociraptors, and so on. They were VERY quick to kill human units, and in one mission you're almost literally tossed into the middle of a pack of very hungry velos, and you only have one soldier. Yeah. >_>
I think it'd be pretty fun, and thinking about it actually inspired me to continue working on a similar concept I had thought about a year or two ago. Might be fun, who knows x)
And comical cross-over comics can be fun!
Which reminds me... There's a journal I need to re-post over here real quick. Pokemon / Kingdom Hearts crossover!
