Started doodling, and misteriously ended with this thing. Armor looks kinda like a japaneese XIV century lacqueware armor, hence the title.
Used it to study metal and fur.

Thank you! There are still many things that can be fixed and improved, but it served me mainly as a testing ground for certain effects, so there was no point in working on it for another few hours.
Despite that I still consider it - as for my skills and abilities - decent.

I think I already grasped how short fur should be made - I think it worked pretty well on the pauldrons. Long fur tho is still shite... In my opinion the best (easiest? fastest?) way of making a nice short fur is making a custom brush for it. I saw that it can be done with only round brush too but it's far away from my grasp.
I agree about the armor. Tho it's was not really a problem for me to draw/shade/colour it. Drawing is just a hobby, normally (at work) I'm dealing mainly with post-processing, so I can get that effect just by playing with lasso, contrast, curves and levels.
And sorry for the late response. Season started, so I'm again working on the weekend events.
