Endless Realms bestiary - Siren
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out - I like how her colours turned out, and how cruel she looks. That is the face of a woman out to drown a few men, just for fun :b

I have to say, this is absolutely beautiful. I love how you did the scales and fins.
I just have one problem . . . That's a mermaid. A Sirens were believed to combine women and birds in various ways. In early Greek art, Sirens were represented as birds with large women's heads, bird feathers and scaly feet. Later, they were represented as female figures with the legs of birds, with or without wings, playing a variety of musical instruments, especially harps. They would lure sailors to their deaths by playing the instruments and singing.
The sailors would become entranced by their music and well, sail into jagged and rocky shores. Their desire to find the source of the music would drive them to jump into the water and they would eventually drown of freeze to death. They would never find the source because the sirens would usually fly away before they were seen. The greeks also believed they would know the past and future
Anyways, Luv the art . Its just that it's not a siren. It's a mermaid.

Thank you kindly :) And heh, yes, I know, you're quite right! ;) It was what the art director asked for, though, so it's not really up to me *shrugs* She described ye olde classic mermaid that she wanted to play the role of aquatic sorceress/temptress, and asked me to call it a siren :b
