I once had a dream where something not unsimilar to this floated around an abandoned hospital at night where, curiously enough, some people were staying over night. When it floated near a window it would start to beam a ray of light into the hospital, trying to aim it at the people. When it hit someone with the beam of light it drained that persons life energy or soul or whatever and that person died, so the people were hiding from those windows which weren't nailed up while roaming and exploring that place, always carefully looking for suspicious beams or rays of light from the outside while wandering around. Since I was an observer without a body it wasn't truely a nightmare. More like watching a movie about a creepy adventure in an abandoned hospital at night, while something supernatural was floating around outside.
