It felt like a normal day in the park, to me. Nothing was really happening, just playing with others, relaxing, and occasional thoughts. I will admit though, I needed something to do to distract my mind, which is why I had brought a small tin filled with dominoes with me. Chess was a bit too complex, and Checkers felt too simple... but a game of Dominoes, up to double 6's, felt perfect. Now, Being made of a gelatinous material, you'd think would make it quite hard to handle them without making the bones sticky, but you'd be wrong. Casually putting down a few tiles at a time, I tried to make a little tower, at the natural stone table I was sitting at. Of course it was hard to do so, but it passed the time away, and the day was bright, so why not?
"WELL SO WHAT, I'M BORED!" A yell echoed throughout the park, interrupting my thoughts. While it wasn't like nails to a chalkboard, to say it didn't startle me would be false, to say the least. Turning to see where the disturbance came from, I saw a Rabbit yelling at what looked to be a party balloon, which she held in her hand.. While others might have seen this as odd, for me, it was probably just a quirk she had. Maybe she could communicate with inanimate objects?
"What are you doing there?" The rabbit said, at the same time of letting go of the balloon. I look up, and see the Rabbit right across from the stone table, seemingly interested in the domino tower.
"Um... I was building a Domino tower..." I stuttered, Not expecting anyone to come up to talk to me. After all, just a few minutes ago, she was yelling at someone.
"Mind if I play with you, then? and don't say no!" She grinned. It looked like nobody had said no to her, for a long time. Her clothes seemed to shine with a certain luster, as if they were made from a stretchy or rubber-like material... and I could've sworn, I saw a pair of eyes on her sandals, or maybe I saw them on the balloon that was drifting away to the sky. But it could've been my imagination, for all that I knew. She didn't look like she was from around the area, either, Looking like someone from a far off place, or from a different planet, for that matter.
"Well... sure, why not?" I said, slightly dejected, not wanting to fight her. While I expected her to complain about not having a chair, I was surprised to see her get her own, and hastily sit down, fully devoting her attention to the game that was to begin. Normally, This would be interesting to see someone this focused, but I will admit, I was sometimes like this, just tuning out everything and going for one little detail. I started to flip the tiles all upside down, and scramble them, while getting out a small pad and pen. "I assume we're playing Muggins, correct?" I asked, with a nod from her head confirming what I said.
"How about a small bet?" she smirked, gazing not at the dominoes being mixed up, but at me. It was out of left field, but I could tell something was going on in her cranium.
"Sure. Hm... If I win, You buy me 5 pounds worth of candy," I Said. While too much candy could be bad for someone made of flesh and bone, being made of Gelatin, it was perfectly safe for me, although a bit sweet. Heck, I would probably give her a bit too, just to be nice. Then again, that was if I won.
"And if I win, I get a new coat!" She exclaimed, seemingly making up her mind, right then and there, with no time to think. Now, with the way she dressed, I could sorta see why she wanted a coat, with the air being a tad chilly. but It seemed she had said it right on the spot, with no time in between for a 'Wait a minute, what should I ask for?' Thought. Either she was a very fast thinker, or said it on impulse. Dismissing this question, I went ahead and began picking 7 bones from the bone yard.
"Very well. And your name is?" I asked, trying to glean some information off of my opponent.
"Clover. Call me that," she said, just sweeping the 7 closest tiles to her side.
"And Clover, you can call me Hayati." While I wasn't really used to saying my name, with the way she acted, I figured I'd say it up front, before she yelled my face off asking. I plinked down the double 5, Somehow managing 10 points right off the bat, with my opening move. "We'll play till 5 houses, or 250 points. Sounds good?" I confirmed, making sure She was fine with it.
"Fine. Say... You look awfully transparent, why is that?" she said, gazing right at my arm. She took a quick look at her tiles, and placed down a 5-4 tile.
"Well, I'm made of gelatin... or jelly, or jello, depending on what term you associate it with. Orange flavored, to be specific. And on the other hand, Why do your clothes seem a bit shiny?" Striking up a bit of conversation with Clover. While I was trying to keep my attention on the game, the way her clothes looked seem to be an enigma that needed to be answered.
"Oh, my clothes? I make them myself, and they're made of rubber." She smirked, and played a Double 4, scoring a nice 15. "You could say... I'm a bit of a Ba-lunatic!"
"Really now," I deadpanned. Looked like she was from a distant place, after all. but the Moon? the idea was insane, but she was talking to a zafara literally made of Orange flavored gelatin. The pun was quite creative, to give her credit.
"Its true!" she grinned, taking it all in stride. "But enough small talk, lets play!" And with That, she devoted her full attention to the game of dominoes at hand.
About 30 minutes Later, and she was kicking my butt. Already, she had completed 4 houses, or made 200 points, while I was working on my 3rd house, with 135. I had no idea she would be this good at Muggins, nor would I have thought I would be playing someone from the moon, of all places!
"Wondering why I'm so good? Its probably because Moon rabbits came up with this game! And that makes me better than you!" she grinned, almost certain she was going to win, placing a 5-1 down, and scoring 5 more points for herself.
"Seriously? Rabbits from the moon came up with dominoes?" I quizzically asked. I placed down a double five, scoring 10 points for me, almost making me finish my 3rd house.
"It's true! And we Moon rabbits have special powers too!" While the thought of her having 'special powers' didn't disturb me much, what made me slightly afraid, would be how she used them, after I saw that balloon from earlier.
"Well, so do I, with dessert magic," I retorted. It was true, that I did have dessert magic, but I tended not to use it while I was in public. After all, I didn't want to draw too much attention to myself. But from the look on her face, it seemed like she didn't care if anyone noticed her. If she was going to do something, she was going to do it, and nothing could stop her from her goal. If I had to guess, she was either a princess, or pretty spoiled, Maybe even both!
"Dessert magic? So why don't you just create candy for yourself then?" she said, trying to pick at my thoughts.
"I don't know about you, but Magic drains quite a bit from me, so I only use it when a situation occurs," I answered. For me, creating a wedding cake could knock me out for an hour of two, depending on how detailed it was. Plus, while I could use dessert magic to transform someone into chocolate, or ice cream, I only used it if they asked, or if I was in trouble.
"Oh," she Said, almost disappointed that my powers had a limit. "Well, My special powers allows me to transform things into rubber, or balloons, and such!"
... Right then and there, A red flag should've popped in my head, trying to put two and two together, but this was ignored, for I didn't want to buy her a new coat. It would take a dent out of my money, but at this point, not having to drag her to the candy store with her being a sore loser would probably be a good prize now.
"Oh, by the way, muggins and domino!" She placed a double six, scoring an astounding 25 points, and clearing her hand. Somehow, in the midst of my thoughts, she had won the game, right then and there. I revealed my hand, and she scored an additional 35 points, which was icing on the proverbial cake.
"I guess I'm buying you a coat, then," I said, admitting defeat. While it wasn't even close, I had managed to keep my cool. After all, she had made the bet, and I had lost.
"No, I said I'm GETTING a new coat." she said in glee. "And that means you!" I didn't get her thinking at all, wondering if she meant that she wanted a coat from my personal collection, and if so, why.
"I don't get it. Why would you want one of my coats?" I questioned, not getting her logic.
"Silly Gelatinous Zafara thing, I don't mean one of your coats. You're becoming a coat for me!" she said, snatching my fancy hat off of my head.
"A coat, for you?! what do you mean?!" I exclaimed, Puzzled and slightly scared. Either she had gone off the deep end, or she was planning something sinister.
"I mean, You're going to turn into a coat!" Clover grinned, as she grabbed my hand. At that moment, I swore I could see a full moon in the sky, even though it wasn't even a crescent nor was it nighttime. That hallucination was soon disturbed by my tail loosing all of its weight, as if it had become hollow, and the 'Skin' of it, even though it was jello, turning to rubber, just like her garnets. she smirked, and Proceeded to twirl my hat with her free hand, giving it a few spins with one finger. "I will admit, This hat is pretty nice. I think I'll keep it! It suits me so well, and soon enough, so will you!"
My mind kicked into overdrive, trying to find a way out of this situation, although hopes of escape soon left the window as my legs started to fold up beneath me, becoming nothing but Rubbery cloth. I was too busy to notice that I had somehow become weightless as well, with her somehow holding me up, with her one hand. The weightlessness had spread from my legs and tail, all the way up my spine, and up to my floppy ears and face... which was no longer a face, but instead, a hoodie, with a little bit of rubber fur, to simulate my hair. But even though my face was gone, I could still see. I quickly tried to move, only to see that my arms were inflating up, and becoming very puffy sleeves for the soon to be warm Clover to wear. My eyes had been moved to my 'chest', with the zipper going right between them. Even the accessories I wore weren't spared, with the chain from my cloak becoming a rubbery belt around her waist, and the bracelets on my tail becoming simple rubber details on it. And yet, I could still feel everything. I couldn't say anything, nor could I taste or smell, but I could still see, and feel, like the stiff breeze that was starting to pick up.
After what seemed like an eternity, Clover put on her stylish new coat, making sure it was a perfect fit. While the coat was a bit too big for her liking, With the weather that was coming, It was perfect. Giggling, she looked at the domino set, and started to put it away, But not before giving Hayati's former hat a few more spins. "You know, since you looked so delicious, maybe I will go get some candy... for myself!" She said, laughing at her own humor. Hayati had no choice but to silently keep her warm for the time being. Who knows how long it would be until the Ba-Lunatic turned him back to normal.
