Mid-Morning
I had just been invited by Bear to stay with him and Timmy at his friend’s house in the countryside.
Since I was completely bored and had nothing to do, I took the invitation.
So me, Bear and Timmy are on a bus riding to a place called Water Front Village.
I’m kinda curious. Not because of where we’re going, but about Bear’s other friends.
-In the Bus-
Bear:
It’s been so long since we did this again.
Timmy:
You look pretty excited. Is there a reason why you wanted to come here? Hmmm….
Bear:
*looks away from Timmy gaze*
///O-Of course not! Wh-why did you say that!///
Zan:
*writing*
“It’s written all over you face that there’s “something””
Bear:
///S-Shut up Zan!///
Timmy:
Hahahahaha!
Conductor:
We are now at Water Front Village.
Please be careful on getting off.
Timmy:
I guess we’re already here.
C’mon. Let’s go.
After I paid our fair, we all got off and bus drives away.
-Bus Stop-
Timmy:
*stretches arms up*
Haaah…
Isn’t you friend here yet?
Bear:
He said he should be here when we arrive. Maybe he’s late.
While the two continue talking, I hear a rustle in some nearby bushes
I look at the others and it seems like I’m the only one who heard it.
My curiosity was very much at its peak at this point.
So, I slowly approach the bush. Suddenly, something instantly jumps out.
???:
BWAAAHHH!
Normally, a person would scream in this situation. But since my voice box never works, I do what I normally do. Close my eyes and hit it with my whiteboard with all my might.
???:
YOWCH!!!
I then open my eyes and see the bush hider on the ground in pain.
It’s a bear wearing a floral shirt.
Floral Shirt Bear:
Uh…. That hurts….
Did I hit him that hard? I guess I should apologize.
Timmy:
Zan! There you are!
I turn around and see Timmy and Bear running toward me.
Bear:
We heard a scream earlier. Is something going- huh?
Bear then looks over my shoulder and as I follow his gaze, the floral shirt bear had just got up.
Bear:
Kenji? What happened?
Kenji:
Ugh… You’re friend over there…. He hit me too hard with his board… Ow….
Timmy:
Sorry. He’s use to being scared.
Zan:
*writing*
You guys know him?
Bear:
He’s the friend I was talking about earlier.
His name is Kenji Mikazuki.
Kenji:
I wanted to say that myself but… Ugh, my cheek….
Bear:
It’s your fault for scaring him
Kenji:
A normal person would just scream!
Timmy:
Well, he’s abnormal.
Zan:
*writing*
“HEY!”
*erase then writes*
“Although, you are kind of right.”
Kenji:
And why is he using a board to talk?
Cat got your tongue?
Timmy:
More like Voice Box.
Kenji:
Huh?
Bear:
Let’s just talk about this later.
Can we go now?
Kenji:
Uh, sure.
Bear:
Oh and by the way. This is Zan. He’s a friend of mine back home.
Zan:
*written on the board*
“I’m really sorry!”
Kenji:
……..
Fine. I’ll forgive you. But only because you’re his friend
We then pick up our bags and follow Kenji to town.
-Streets of Water Front-
Water Front Village. This is a very peaceful town.
The rustic view has that charm and vibe.
It’s feels different compared to the city.
Maybe it’s because it’s my first time going to the countryside.
Bear:
You look interested in this place don’t you Zan.
I guess he notice me looking around the street.
Timmy:
Oh yeah. It’s your first time coming to a place like this, right?
Kenji:
Seriously? Hmmm….
Bear:
Is something wrong?
Kenji:
Well, I was thinking that, shouldn’t people like him be, you know, isolated from the world and can only talk from a computer?
Zan:
*writing*
“I’m not a Hikikomori!”
Kenji:
You do kinda give off that vibe when I’m near you.
Zan:
*writing*
“Do you want me to hit you again? I feel that your other cheek needs attention.”
Kenji:
Sorry. I’ll keep my mouth shut.
As we chatted along, we eventually reach our destination.
Kenji:
Well, here we are. Home Sweet Home.
We arrive in front of a normal country house. It has the word “Mikazuki” written on the nameplate.
-Mikazuki Household – Guest Bedroom-
Afternoon
After we settled ourselves and fixed our stuff, me and Timmy were building a card tower while we wait for Bear and Kenji to come back with the grocery shopping.
Timmy:
Ugh… How long are they coming back…?
I’m so bored…
Since Kenji told us that the room’s clock has no batteries, I took out my phone to check the time.
It’s already 4:59 PM
Timmy:
Speaking of cell phones, you should probably hide that for a while.
Zan:
*writing*
“???”
Timmy then takes out his phone and shows the front to me.
The only thing I manage to notice is there’s no signal bars
Zan:
*writing*
“There’s no Signal?”
He then nods at me in reply.
I take out my phone again and it’s the same. No signal.
I guess this place is so rural that they haven’t upgraded to the cell phone yet.
Timmy:
But there is one place where you can use that. Do you wanna stop by there tomorrow?
I nod in reply. Of course I want to!
Timmy:
Then it’s settled.
He then stands up and walks toward the door. I immediately grabbed his sleeve before he went out.
Zan:
*written on the board*
“Where’re you going?”
Timmy:
I’m going after them. They may need help.
Zan:
*writing*
“Then I’m coming too!”
Timmy:
You don’t have to do that. Besides, who’s gonna watch the house?
Kenji has the keys.
Zan:
……….
Timmy:
Don’t worry. When we get back, we’ll bring some snacks for you. Alright?
Zan:
*writing*
“Darn. You know my weakness.”
*erase and writes again*
“Fine. But bring me something with strawberry!”
Timmy:
Okay. Well, see ya later.
After that, he grabs his jacket from the door’s coat hanger and leaves the room.
I’m all alone now.
Zan:
*Sigh*
I’m all alone now. Well, this is swell.
After a few minutes of waiting, I decided to take out my Shintendo 2PS from my backpack and start playing.
I was currently playing a game called “Apocalypse Camera.”
It’s a standard exploration horror game. I know I don’t like being scared but that’s the reason why it’s fun to play it.
I turn off the lights and put on my red stereo headphones that are connected to the console. And since its sundown, the atmosphere is perfect. Too perfect to be exact.
So perfect that I’m already in the state of hitting someone out of the blue again.
After an hour and 45 minutes of play, I pause the game to take a breather.
I got thirsty from playing. So I decided to go down and get a glass of water.
I try to turn on the lights, but it won’t work.
Zan:
………
I repeatedly press the button over and over again. It still won’t work.
A Blackout?
I guess I wouldn’t notice since I turned off the lights a while ago.
Why did this have to happen…
What’s worse is that I played a scary game!
………
I’m so thirsty…
I may not have a voice, but I still have a throat.
Guess I’ll prepare myself for the worse.
I take out my flashlight from my backpack and got out into the dark hallway.
It’s a good thing this house only has one floor. I might have fallen down the stairs at some point along the way.
As I shine my way through, I reach the kitchen without any casualties.
After I was done drinking, I heard a creaking sound not far from here.
Was that the door? Is somebody else here? A ghost? Demon? Sadako?
I instantly became afraid of the worst case scenarios that might happen.
Why did I even play a scary game…?
Since cowering in fear and screaming (if I can do that) was not an option, I had to take measures into my own hands.
I turn off my flashlight and slowly creep into hiding by the wall near the kitchen door.
I take in a deep breath and ready myself with whiteboard in hand.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5…
Suddenly, the shadowy figure appears from the door.
This is my moment!
Using both of my hands, I hit the apparition in front with all my might.
I wanted to do a war cry but that will never happen.
Ghost(?):
GWAAA!!!
After that, a large thud sound follows.
Wait a minute. A scream and a large thud sound? That can’t be right.
After that, the lights went back on.
……..
Now I know why…
I HIT ANOTHER PERSON! I should really stop doing that.
This time it’s a bear wearing a blue gym jacket.
But it’s strange. He looks like Kenji.
What’s even weirder is that he’s doing the same position as Kenji earlier. Just that it’s in the opposite direction.
As I try kneel down to see if he’s okay, the others came into the kitchen.
Kenji:
Zan? What are you doing he- huh?
Kenji then looks over my shoulder and as I follow his gaze, the blue jacket bear stands up.
De JA Vu.
Kenji:
Aniki! Are you alright!?
Bear:
What’s going on!?
Bear and Timmy soon follow.
Timmy:
Not again.
It really is De JA Vu.
A few minutes later and a lot of explaining done, we were all at the dinner table eating together.
Apparently, the blue jacket bear’s name is Juuichi Mikazuki and he’s Kenji older twin brother. No wonder they look alike.
Zan:
*written on the board*
“I’m so sorry on what I did!”
Juuichi:
It’s fine. It was only a matter of self-defense correct?
Zan:
*writing*
“Now I feel awful…”
Juuichi:
Don’t be. It wasn’t your fault.
Zan:
*writing*
“But”
Kenji:
Zan, just give it up.
What’s done is done.
Now come on, let’s eat already!
Timmy:
Yeah!
Bear:
………
Zan:
*writing*
“Is something wrong Bear?”
Bear:
Well, it’s just that, the wounds you gave them.
Now that he mentions it, I did manage to give them a wound on different places.
Kenji has a patch on his left cheek while Juuichi on the right.
Timmy:
Yeah, it is kind of funny!
Now you can tell which is which, Zan!
Bear:
Hahahahahahaha!!!
Spot the difference! Ahahahahahaha!
Juuichi:
………
Kenji:
……….
