This is a new character of mine. I already made a Furspots profile for him, so you can check out his personal information there.

(Furspots is awesome.)
Anyway, I am an absolutely awful artist. I can't draw. I know this. My business is in writing. Writing I can handle. Seduction and Confirmation? Those turned out well. Drawn artwork? Not so well. The only thing even remotely good about my drawing is my KjK signature, which I think is neat. Too bad I can't add that to my stories without making them PDFs or something.
Anyway, despite my normally being fully aware how bad I am at drawing, I was faced with the unfortunate fact that Shace is a brand new character, and thus that there were literally no reference pictures of him anywhere at all. If you want to commission someone, established characters are easy--just find the best other commissions you already have to pass off. For poor Shace, it's either my pathetic attempts at art or asking people to go off literally nothing but description. It's hard getting new characters off the ground.... And so, I rather shamefully present this, my attempt at a first reference that will hopefully begin his momentum and someday snowball into him actually having decent pictures.
Things wrong with this picture, for the sake of reference (because I'm bad enough at this that I can't even get all of the details right on my own character in my own picture:)
* Wings are supposed to be large enough to be capable of flight. Even after taking the weird angle/foreshortening justification into account, these are probably too small.
* Stupid me drew his decorative tail spade cap thing on sideways, with the blades protruding vertically (perfectly matched to the spines on top and plate scales on bottom.) It should be worn horizontally, so that the spines and plates are on the top and bottom, and the blades are on either side.
(On the other hand, this is his first picture ever. Assuming I don't change my mind on various design aspects--and no promises I won't--I suppose the things-wrong-with-this-picture list could have been worse.)

By all means, though, you did get better since last time. Do give yourself that, though it's true that might only be a bout of luck considering you don't draw frequently.
I figure you're not really intending to, but do keep in mind that drawing skills hardly are a matter of talent, much like anything in life actually.

I will admit that this actually turned out fairly well for something I drew, though it still fails compared to any real artists out there.
I'm not too concerned about my lack of drawing skill, because I've already found other areas in which I can do better. My personal opinion is that everyone's better at some things than others, and the same amount of time practicing and such can get you farther when put toward specializing your strengths and taking them to even higher levels than toward stumbling through your weaknesses and trying to bring them toward even basic proficiency. So it's not that I'm bashing myself here or saying I'm a bad person or anything because I can't draw--it's just that my talents lie elsewhere and I normally choose to put that practice and dedication time toward those instead. In my case, I put more of my energy toward writing than drawing, because the former I can actually do (and actually enjoy doing more anyway.)
These days, my drawing is mostly on the "the talent is questionable, but at least you can tell what it's supposed to be" level, and since I'm usually choosing to focus elsewhere anyway, I normally only go to draw when I need to make an ugly-but-informative reference sheet--something that says "Please forgive how bad this looks, but this is what this character looks like, so now you know" when I'm commissioning other people. As stated above, this being a brand new character, I kind of needed something like that just to get his initial reference collection started. I may also do another reference sheet for Teo one of these days because the last one's dimensions were somewhat off. Things like that, basically.
