Explaining to Grace why he was in diapers had been horribly embarrassing for Petie. Having her coo, be sympathetic, and tell him he was still a big boy despite wearing them complete with a patronizing kiss on his forehead had darn near embarrassed the teddiursa to death. When Rose finally came back out and Grace handed him over, whispering to his sister that she was in on Petie’s secret, would keep it quiet, and that he was clean and dry, Petie was sure the hariyama was trying to kill him. Not that Rose registered this of course… she just thanked Grace, quietly of course, for checking him and had cuddled Petie soothingly. He’d opted to throw his maturity out the window and nuzzle into Rose’s neck for comfort and to hide his blushing face, hoping this would be over soon.
Unfortunately whatever Legendary enjoyed messing with Petie wasn’t about to let that happen as Grace insisted on tagging along and chatting with Rose as his big sister walked. Naturally, cradled as he was, Petie had next to no input in this conversation… once again being the “Baby” as far as the two older people talking were concerned. He couldn’t even fuss to be put down since, as he knew from experience, he’d have to jog to keep up with the two much taller, much longer legged mon… and Rose knew this too so she’d use that as a reason to keep carrying him. At least she hadn’t opted to pouch him… small blessing as the saying goes or at least what little the teddiursa remembered of it.
Petie was barely listening to them talking, his glum mood from Rose’s loss earlier still hanging over his head. They were talking about the match, their respective little siblings (Petie whined softly at this topic choice), Rose’s costume… random stuff. The only time the generally chipper mood between the two soured any was when Grace mentioned contests… but she was kind and smart enough to drop that topic the moment Rose told her to, the kangaskhan’s tone of voice getting the message across. Petie had tensed waiting for things to go bad since he knew how much Rose disliked contests, so that’d been a relief… though he did notice Rose start rubbing his back and bottom and he wasn’t sure if it was to sooth him or to sooth her.
Either way Petie expected the conversation, with him as the carry-on, to continue till they got to the front doors of the school since he and Rose were due to head home and… well… he assumed she stayed at the dorms but he didn’t know for sure. His mind wandered briefly if the dorms could HOLD somebody as big and heavy as she was… but that train of thought was quickly derailed by a piercing noise somewhere between a high pitched yep and a little girls squeal of surprise. “Jules!” he immediately squeaked, recognizing that noise almost anywhere, as he struggled in Rose’s arms to try and jump down and scurry off to find out what was happening to his best friend.
Rose tightened her grip enough to keep Petie from falling from her arms in his hurry and cracking his head open on the tile, and opted to rush in the direction of the noise herself with Petie in tow. The high pitched yipping and squeaking continued leading them to the source and letting them know Jules was still in pain from whatever was happening to him. The sounds just motivated Rose to move faster as she whipped around a corner into a side hallway to find… a painfully familiar scene for Petie since he recognized the two big, fat idiots currently enjoying the suffering of the riolu they had at their mercy.
The two electabuzz in question looked vaguely similar, both were big and fat, both had dark, curly afro styled hair, and both had the long, thick arms that were expected with their species. The one on the left was the bigger and fatter of the two, standing a good head and a half taller than his partner and with his protruding gut only mostly covered by his t-shirt. He was dressed in a t shirt, blue jeans, with a coat clumsily tied around his middle, and black, metal studded bracelets on his arms. His hair was a fluffy afro that added a good two inches or so to his height and would have been comical if the guy didn’t look like he could snap you in half and would if it got him a cheap laugh. The other one was noticeably smaller and not as fat, though still chubby, with his hair in a much more trim and compact afro. His outfit consisted of a white undershirt, black jeans, a black… Petie wasn’t sure what it was actually but it looked like a trench coat without sleeves, and a thick, rope like belt with a big buckle. Together they looked like the kind of thugs that showed up in cartoons and games the teddiursa knew about so the hero could beat them up and show how strong they were.
Petie didn’t know their names but he’d met them several times before, either the fatter one by himself or the two together. From what he’d heard everybody on Team Pre-K had met these two assholes as well as a good chunk of the smaller freshmen in the school. The bigger one was notorious for lazy bullying usually consisting of dangling things out of reach, dangling freshmen upside down, shoving, shoving into lockers, and just all around being a jerk. The smaller one often just stood by and let his friend, brother, or whatever their relation was do what he wanted or even helped on occasion…
Knowing all this didn’t make the scene any more pleasant or tolerable though as the fatter one had gotten ahold of Jules’s tail and was dangling the helplessly riolu upside down a few feet in the air, snickering as Jules squeaked and flailed futilely. Petie could feel his blood boiling when he saw this. Had Rose not been carrying him the teddiursa might have been stupid enough to just charge right up like Sammi and tried to free Jules himself. He didn’t have time to think about how badly that bit of brave stupidity might have gone though as the two electric types finally noticed they weren’t alone with their victim anymore.
Both immediately showed their displeasure at Rose’s arrival, though in different ways. The fat one, who still had Jules by the tail, looked like he was annoyed somebody was trying to spoil his fun but otherwise unmoved by the kangaskhan showing up. The smaller one reacted with a bit more recognition though and seemed to put up a loose guard, though he didn’t seem to be expecting a fight. It didn’t look like either of them noticed Petie… though he was already so upset with what they were doing to Jules the teddiursa couldn’t care less about being snubbed. At least, till he’d heard Rose use a tone he’d only heard a few times before.
“Put. Jules. Down. NOW.”
It was an even, controlled tone with each word annunciated to make them perfectly clear. It also carried an icy, furious anger in it that was enough to make Petie tremble a little even as Rose continued to gently hold him. He’d heard Rose use this tone before when she caught people bullying him or found him after he’d been bullied… and it always unnerved him. The smaller electabuzz seemed to recognize murder glaring at him, even if Petie couldn’t see Rose’s expression with how he was being held, and he was suddenly more on guard and focused. The fatter one though…
“Do I have to?”
His voice was deep and guttural, unpleasant to the ears, and had the slightest hint of annoyance in it. As if he didn’t even register Rose as a threat and more just considered her the possibility of getting in trouble. Even as Rose took a step forward in warning his annoyed expression didn’t change… which was confusing enough it cleared Petie’s mind up to notice the slightest sound of big, heavy footsteps approaching. For an instance he though it was Grace finally having caught up but after a moment Petie realized they were coming from the OTHER SIDE of the two idiots in front of them. The thought of how many fat mon he was going to meet today crossed the teddiursa’s mind briefly before something rounded the corner and he saw a flicker of flames… before the floor shook with a flurry of motion.
The newcomer went from having barely rounded the corner to being behind the two electabuzz, looming over them menacingly… or at least it’d looked that way to Petie. Before anyone could react a set of large, meaty, dark colored hands with white claws wrapped around the electabuzz’s heads… which made their eyes go wide and their pupils shrink down to pin pricks. Petie could only guess they knew who had grabbed them or what was about to happen before the hands rocketed together to meet in the middle, the electric types being dragged along for the ride. There was a sound that was eerily like two coconuts being knocked together as numbskull met numbskull hard enough to even make Petie’s head hurt. The two bullies swayed and fell, Jules yipping in surprise as the hand holding his tail released and he was dropped onto his nose.
Petie had to blink a few times before his brain could process everything that’d happen and even begin to take in the huge figure standing over the two fallen bullies and his dropped friend. It was a big, fat emboar guy. Fat enough his bulging stomach and conspicuously popped out belly button poked out from between the pants and sleeveless t-shirt he was wearing. Not that this did anything to make him less terrifying since every other part of him seemed to be made of muscle. His broad shoulder, thick arms, and sturdy legs seemed to counteract his bulging stomach completely… and the plumes of fire poking out from the neck and arm holes of his t shirt (which HAD to be fireproof) helped with the whole intimidation thing. His broad face was already intimidating with the tusks and billowing eyebrows, the dark marks under his eyes adding to the whole intimidation factor… though Petie wasn’t sure if they were natural markings or if he just didn’t sleep well.
He just stood there, looking at them impassively with his dark rimmed eyes silently… before a soft whimper drew everybody’s attention down to were Jules was rubbing his nose as he sat up, head lolling a little due to having been dangled like that. Rose regained enough composure to relax her grip on Petie, letting him wiggle free of her arms and, after picking himself up from the undignified landing, hurry over to his best friend. “A-are you okay Jules!?” he asked, helping the riolu up as Jules nodded, nose a little red “U-uh huh…” the girlish looking fighting type whimpered “J-just dizzy…” as Petie helped him keep his balance, relieved his friend was okay… sorta.
“Thank you for helping him.” Rose spoke up, apparently addressing the emboar (Petie was too focused on Jules to bother to look), “He’s kinda like a baby brother to me, I’m” Rose continued before a deep, resonating voice (one of those huge drums from kung-fu movies was the first comparison that came to Petie’s mind) cut her off “Rose, you’re Rose right?” someone asked, making Petie look up to confirm that it was the emboar talking “I’ve seen one or two of your matches… I’m Ichiro, and there’s no need to thank me.” His voice was even, casual, formal, and oddly polite… despite the fact he looked like he should be sitting in front of some ancient gate keeping heroes from passing. Petie also couldn’t help but recall hearing that same name in a couple animes he’d watched… maybe it was a standard Japanese one?
“Er,,, i-it’s nice to meet you Ichiro?” Rose stuttered, looking a little surprised at being interrupted and at being recognized by a stranger. “Likewise… unfortunately I’m not familiar with your little brother’s name.” Ichiro continued, looking down to address Petie as the teddiursa squeaked a little “… he is your little brother, correct? I know you fight alongside him in some matches… or is he another surrogate little brother like… Jules was it?” he asked, Petie wasn’t sure what the hell to make of the fire-type pigs weird speaking style. “I-I’m Petie, a-and yeah I’m her little brother!” he squeaked defensively… though he wasn’t sure why he was getting defensive beyond the fact the emboar intimidated him. The pig’s mouth twitched a little at that… into a slightly amused smile which just made Petie feel confused and silly. “I see. It is a pleasure to meet you two as well then…” Ichiro said, voice softening a little, before he turned his attention to the unconscious electric types. His smile vanished immediately as he snorted, a tiny plume of flame accenting it “As for these two…”
Suddenly the floor shook as a familiar voice called out “Rose? Is everything alright? Is…” as Petie looked past his sister to see Grace finally rounding the corner, the hariyama apparently having finally caught up with them. She stopped short as she spied the emboar though and blurted out “Ichiro?” leaving no doubt to the fact she knew him from somewhere. “Hello Grace, I wasn’t aware you were friends with Rose.” The flame pig said politely, giving her a slight nod of his head as Grace walked over to them doing that whole silent movement thing again. Petie wasn’t sure if sumo and ninja were supposed to mix like that to be honest… maybe he should let Taiho know about it…
“… you two know each other?” Rose spoke up as Petie looked to see her looking between the two big, fat mon as Grace took up position just a little behind them. “Yep, he’s one of the mon Ray talked into possibly joining Team Heavy Weight.” Grace said, completely missing the confused look on Rose’s face since nobody had bothered to fill the kangaskhan in on the details of the whole team thing yet. Meanwhile the hariyama looked over the scene of the two unconscious electabuzz and dazed Jules as she knelt down to the little riolu, still being held up by Petie “Are you okay little one~?” she asked gently, stroking the side of his head softly with one massive finger before looking up to Ichiro “Still hanging out with these two bullies Ichiro?” she asked the emboar, her tone informing everyone she was rather annoyed about this.
“Yes, I find them useful if not terribly bright or orderly.” The pig said, sounding a little insulted by the way Grace phrased her question as he folded his arms “I try to keep them in line, this happened when I was busy with more important matters.” He continued as Grace straightened herself back up, content that Jules was mostly unharmed, the large girl silently listening to Ichiro’s explanation. “I have told them several times before, verbally and violently, that they are not to bully freshmen or those too weak to properly fight back against them.” Ichiro said, snorting a small plume of flame again in what was probably annoyance “It is cowardly and insulting to fight someone who can’t actually resist or challenge you.”
Grace nodded, seemingly put at ease by that as Petie and Rose exchanged glances. The siblings having caught the rather obviously implied message of “I don’t care about the fact they’re bullying people, I just care about their choice in targets” from what Ichiro had said that it looked like Grace had somehow missed. Before either one could bring this up though there was the sound of ANOTHER set of footsteps rapidly approaching, this time from the direction Ichiro came from. Fortunately by the sound of it they belonged to somebody much, much smaller than the emboar or hariyama. In fact if the running pattern didn’t sound odd Petie would have sworn it belong to one of his teammates or one of the friends he had who was more his size.
Suddenly the strangest looking tepig Petie had ever seen rounded the corner, almost skidding and falling on his ass as his hooves slipped on the tile he was running so fast. He looked like a ball on legs for lack of a better description since the kid was faaaat with an incredibly round tummy that almost made his entire torso spherical. Compared to that his arms and legs seemed disproportionately small… though on second look his arms and legs had some chubby mass to them too, it was just his small looking hands and feet that made them look odd. His face was similarly rounded with chubby cheeks, big surprisingly innocent looking brown eyes, and what looked like a larger than normal pig snout. He was wearing a pair of jeans that looked like they were stretched to the limit over his round frame and a t shirt with some kind of logo on it. Petie didn’t pay attention to what kind of logo though since he noticed the tepig had a popped out belly button and dark marks under his eyes like Ichiro…
Before Petie could think any further the chubby piglet stumbled to a halt letting him notice the kid was at least half a foot taller than him if not more which had him guessing it was another freshmen he just hadn’t met before. “B-big brother!” the piglet panted, confirming what Petie was already suspecting “Why’d you run off like thaa…” the tepig trailed off as he looked from Ichiro to the unconscious, though now groaning, electabuzz duo then to Petie and Jules. His expression dropped from confusion to concern as he clopped over to Petie and Jules suddenly “Are you two okay!? They didn’t hurt you did they?” he asked, his tone sounding genuine though a little patronizing which made Petie groan inwardly a little.
“W-we’re okay.” Jules said, smiling to the pig and apparently either not noticing or caring about the kid talking down to them. Seemingly relieved the tepig smiled “That’s good, I’m sorry… these two jerks can be really mean when my big brother’s not around to keep them in line…” he punctuated that last part by looking up at Ichiro with a worshiping look as the emboar appeared to be doing his best attempt not to register the comment. “I didn’t know you had a little brother~” Grace said, suddenly cutting in as she stepped forwards to smile down at the piglet “What’s your name little one~?” she asked, her tone gushing like when she’d first met Pre-K as Petie took this chance to scoot back towards Rose and away from them, Jules still in tow.
“Oh, I’m Jiro! Nice to meet you!” he said, smiling up to Grace… and making a happy oinking noise when she used one of her giant hands to pat his head while cooing at him. “Our father considered naming traditions important.” Ichiro said, watching this with his expression unchanged “Jiro this is Grace, she’s quite strong.” He added as the piglets face lit up with awe at this, apparently taking that sort of comment from his brother very seriously. Grace just blushed and chuckled bashfully before looking to Ichiro, still patting Jiro’s head as the piglet oinked happily at the attention “So, why didn’t you tell me you had a little brother before?”
Petie meanwhile opted to ignore this conversation as he moved to stand next to Rose with Jules, his sister kneeling down to be level with them. “Um… Petie? What’s going on?” Jules finally asked, apparently having finally recovered from being dangled upside down for an unknown period of time as he was standing without the teddiursa’s support now. “Yeah, kinda curious about that myself…” Rose added, talking low enough that they didn’t draw the attention of the other three back to them. “Er…” Petie fidgeted nervously on his feet, fumbling for some way to explain this, before finally opting to just cop-out and hope for the best “I have no clue… how’d those two catch you Jules? What happened with the team meeting?” the teddiursa asked, hoping changing the topic would get him off the hook.
“The meeting?” Jules asked before blinking in realization “Oh! Right! The meeting!” he eeped “W-well after you left Maddie decided it’d be best if we rescheduled for another time.” The riolu explained as Petie tried not to feel happy that his presence, or lack there of, was enough to justify rescheduling… which lasted about as long as it took Jules to open his mouth again “Sammi was too furious from Gace treating her like that to focus anyway so Maddie told her to go relax before she hurt herself or someone.” Jules explained, apparently trying to quote the miltank by the look on his face. Not noticing her baby brother’s crestfallen look due to his bubble of self-importance being popped Rose spoke up “Where’d she go then?” as Jules just shrugged in response.
“Dunno… maybe back to her dorm?”
************************
Jules had actually guessed right without knowing it. Sammi had gone to her dorm… and come right back out once she’d fetched her furfrou puppy Ace. As of the moment the adorable duo were in the middle of a game of fetch to take Sammi’s mind off her earlier humiliation. It was going quite well actually, barring when Ace tripped over his long ears and Sammi had to comfort the whimpering puppy, since it let Ace run around in the fresh air and sun and Sammi vent her frustrations in a manner that didn’t include attempting to violently attack someone. Naturally the little dratini was expecting SOMETHING to come along and ruin it at any moment as Ace happily trotted back to her with the squeaky bone she’d been throwing for him.
“I’ve told you, I’m not interested!”
“Come on! You’ll like it! Having some friends might help you with that grumpy mood of yours~”
Yeeeeeeeep, right on time Sammi glumly thought as Ace dropped the bone in her lap and waited for her to throw it. Looking up towards the sources of the apparent argument Sammi groaned to see more fat mon, reminding her of Grace and the dratini’s earlier humiliation. It was an incredibly fat purugly girl with a sweater and stretch pants who looked just as annoyed as Sammi felt being followed by a grumping guy who had a big, goofy, obnoxious smile on his face which reminded her of Jules but worse. Either way she would have been happy to ignore the two but their little discussion was loud enough she didn’t have that option.
“Just give it a chance, once you get to know us I’m sure you’ll warm up to the idea~ You’ll smile more too I bet! Come on, give it a chance~ I know Team Heavy Weight would be a GREAT group!”
“Do you EVER shut up or stop? For that matter does your brain just refuse to comprehend the word NO? As in I refuse. I’m not interested. I do not acquiesce to your proposal. GET LOST AND STOP BUGGING ME BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU!!!”
Sammi had the feeling this wasn’t the first time the two fatties had had this conversation… though she was prone to sympathizing with the purugly in this case. Just listening to the pig’s overly cheerful, friendly tone reminded her of Jules but somehow made even worse. The grumping even had that same obnoxious, bouncy skip-step Jules sometimes used… though, and Sammi hated admitting it, it worked a LOT better for the little riolu then it did for the fat pig. She watched the two make their way to the girl’s dorm, grumping trying to convince the purugly to join his team or whatever the heck he wanted and the purugly doing her best to tell him to leave in increasingly creative language, till they were right at the door to the dorm.
SLAM
Sammi almost winced as she watched the purugly wait just long enough in the open doorway for the pig to step up before slamming the door fast enough to smack his flat nose even flatter. With a surprised squeal the pig stumbled back and fell on his butt… or specifically fell on his spring-like tail which sent him flipping backwards with a SPROING sound and landing on his tummy in a display of clownish acrobatics. Sammi could feel Ace’s fluffy tail wagging as he pawed the ground, apparently assuming that was some kind of game. The dratini meanwhile was idly wondering if the pig was okay after that, she wasn’t so heartless as to not care about when people were hurt… least when she wasn’t doing the hurting.
But she was spared having to worry about him as he hopped back up onto his feet and brushed the dirt and grass off his shirt “Okay! Guess you want to rest after that match~ We can talk tomorrow!” he called out, apparently under the delusion the purugly was still near enough to hear him or even cared to listen. Sammi then had two horrifying thoughts pass through her head one after the other. The first was that with the purugly gone the pig was free to focus on other things and the second was that SHE was there, exposed with nowhere to hide quickly, in plain sight…
“Oh, hey there! Two in one day, kinda surprising to see so many little ones on campus~”
Sammi groaned as she realized she was about to be talked down to for the second time that day and since she had a sneaking suspicion this guy was the type to just ignore any shin kicking she might do. Ace yipped a little as the grumpig was looming over them before Sammi had time to form any kind of idea about what to do. “Hello~ What’s your name? And hello to you too~” the grumpig chuckled, scratching Ace’s chin as the puppy yipped to get the strangers attention. “So, where’s your mommy little one~? Little girls and puppies shouldn’t be wandering around by themselves~” the pig asked, smiling to Sammi as he continued scratching Ace’s chin.
“I’m not little and I’m a student here.” Sammi grumbled half-hearted, too used to nobody believing that statement at this point. The grumping blinked at this and scratched his head, Ace whining a little as the attention had stopped, a contemplative look crossing the pig’s face as he looked up. “Well… I did hear stuff about tiny freshmen students a while back…” the pig mumbled to himself, glancing down at Sammi as the Dratini wondered if he was really talking to himself to try and make a decision here “But you are smaller than that kid I saw earlier so I dunno…” he mumbled, looking back up again and falling backwards to rock on his tail as if it’d somehow bounce the answer into his head.
Staring at this for a moment Sammi realized this was her best chance to get the hell out of this weird situation as she let her gaze slip towards the small tree-line at the edge of the grassy area around the girls dorm. Moving slowly and carefully, so as not to get the pig’s attention, till the last moment Sammi let Ace’s squeaky bone fly and she pitched it as far as she could towards the tree line. Naturally Ace took off bounding after it and, after checking to see that the grumpig was still in his own little world, Sammi took off after him. She could only picture Ace’s confusion as he picked up his squeaky bone to take it back to her only to see her dash past him… but she wasn’t looking back just in case the grumpig had noticed her dashing off.
Hearing Ace’s paws start to skitter after her reassured the little dratini since Ace probably thought chase was the new game they were playing. Ducking through the trees Sammi slipped past and around them like when she needed to get down the school halls and there were crowds of people bigger than her (an admittedly broad category) in the way. She’d never admit it but she took the occasion ninja comment about her fighting style and skills with a lot of pride. Stopping short Sammi finally glanced behind her to make sure the pig wasn’t following… sure enough all that came up behind the dratini was Ace. The furfrou puppy trotted up to Sammi a few moments later and dropped his squeaky bone at her feet before sitting down in front of his owner. Tail wagged eagerly as he looked up at her, waiting for whatever game they were going to play next.
“Hello? Little girl? Are you in there?” the grumpig’s voice called, apparently way back at the entrance to the small section of forest, sounding somewhat concerned “I don’t think it’s safe to play in there!” he added, making Sammi roll her eyes. She felt more at home here then she did in the city to be honest since she used to spend time playing and watching ferals in the small forest on the other side of her village back home. It had been one of the few places most of the other girls couldn’t find her. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just go away.” Sammi called back, not really thinking about it as she scratched Ace’s head. She might have felt at home in the pseudo-forest but there wasn’t enough room to let Ace safely run around here…
Luckily she knew for a fact if she just kept going straight she’d pop right out in the school-courtyard proper. It was a shortcut she’d taken once or twice when she’d accidentally slept late. “Come on boy, lets leave pork loin behind.” She said, confident the grumpig wouldn’t follow them, as she resumed walking. This time at a much more leisurely pace. Ace gave a happy yip as he started to trot along next to her… before nuzzling his little dratini mommy and making cute little whining sounds. Sammi laughed at this, realizing she shouldn’t have mentioned food “We’ll get you some treats when we go back to the dorm, okay?” she said, scratching her puppy’s head “Don’t want you getting as fat as Andrew though, so only a few~” Ace just yipped happily as the two kept walking.
**************************************
“Probably, that or beating up some poor sap…” Petie said, nodding at Jules’s statement. The conversation stopping for a moment to watch Ichiro grab the electabuzz bullies (one tail in each hand) and proceed to drag their fat, unconscious butts down the hall apparently intending to dump them someplace less conspicuous so as not to attract campus security. Any more than they already probably have anyway. Jiro following along behind his brother while Grace watched them go, the expression on her face naturally concerned about this whole thing.
“Er…” Petie stammered, tearing his eyes away from the weird scene “A-anyway what about the others?” he asked as Jules blinked a moment before turning his attention back to his best friend “Oh! Well Maddie and Jane had to talk with some people I think…” the riolu said, putting his paw to his chin thoughtfully as he added “thought they didn’t look happy to see them…” an unsure look on his face like always when he didn’t understand something. Rose just scratched her head “Er… who were they talking to?”
“Oh, Jane was talking to this Simisear guy”
***************************************
“No.”
“Come on, please?”
“No.”
“I can pay you special order for them if you want? It’ll be cheaper than importing…”
“No.”
“Please? … oh, and want one?”
“… no and yes, in that order.”
It was an unusual scene to say the least, watching a relatively short, androgynous looking munchlax in overalls being followed by an average sized simisear guy who was almost as wide as he was tall, dressed in rather expensive looking clothing, and was carrying around what looked like a pastry box. Well… an unusual scene for anyone not familiar with the PCA and its oddities at least. The monkey held the pastry box out to Jane, opening it to reveal various pink frosted poke-puff’s within. Taking one and popping it into her mouth Jane chewed it several times before swallowing, licking her lips a little afterwards.
“Not bad, really, really sweet thought.”
“Yep, my favorite kind~” the simisear said before happily tossing two puffs into his mouth and chewing them, his fat cheeks moving up and down to the rhythm of his chewing. Jane glanced back towards the pastry box, eyeing the logo printed on the lid “Whipped Dream Bakery…” she said aloud, recognizing the name as one of the stores that buys from her family’s berry orchard. “Yep~” the simisear said between chews “My best friend works there…” he paused to pop more poke-puffs into his mouth and chew them “and his aunt owns it…” he finally swallowed, pulling a napkin from a pocket of his expensive looking (and probably tailored) jacket to wipe his mouth with “And they said you and your family are great at growing berries~”
“… while I’ll have to remember to thank them for the compliment I’ve told you before, we can’t grow Mago Berries for you.”
“Why not?”
“Because the orchard is divided between the berries we sell locally, the ones we use in the restaurant, and a small part for new berries we try out. As of the moment we don’t have room in any of those to grow a new crop.”
“Fine… will you have room later though?”
“Maybe, but I think mom will be unsure of the idea. She isn’t fond of berries that can cause side effect if the customer doesn’t like the flavor.”
“… but… who doesn’t like sweets?”
********************
Petie nodded and opened his mouth to ask about what happened to Maddie when a ping pig nose suddenly poked its way between him and Jules, making the teddiursa speak in surprise. He and Jules skipped back a half-step to find the smiling face of Jiro filling their vision, the tepig piglet bending down a little to get on eye level with the smaller freshmen. “Hey! You two are Petie and Jules, right?” he asked cheerfully as the boys nodded and Jules piped up “Yes, um… how did you know us? And weren’t you going with your brother?” the riolu asked, Petie remembering having seen the piglet leave earlier. Jiro smiled and made some oinking noises as if amused by the question. “Thought it’d be rude to not say goodbye!” he said, shrugging “And seen you around campus and on those posters with your sister… we even have Battling Basics together, remember?” he asked as Petie blinked and tried to recall. With how the teacher in that class acted he didn’t really have much of a chance to notice the other students. He was too busy trying to avoid being used in an example spar.
Jiro smiled and made more oinking sounds “Anyway I wanted to say if those jerks bother you again just say you’ll tell my big brother!” the piglet said proudly, placing his hands on his hips and standing tall “He’ll straighten them out! After all, he’s the best!” Jiro announced to the world sincerely, a big smile on his face. Petie couldn’t stop himself from puffing his cheeks out, some part of him taking that as a challenge for reasons he didn’t understand and had hoped he was too mature for. He folded his arms defiantly “Nu uh!” the teddiursa said petulantly “My big sis Rose is the best!” Petie declared, the same pride in his siblings that’d made him take Rose’s defeat so hard flaring back up again as Jiro blinked and looked at him in confusion…
Before letting out a squeaky but amused sounding laugh as the tepig smiled to Petie and nodded ”Yeah, big siblings are the best! … uh… um…” Jiro blinked as if remembering something before leaning forward and whispering to Petie “But I wanted to ask… why does she make you wear those costumes in the posters?” he asked, looking genuinely curious as Petie blushed bright pink. The teddy couldn’t help but wonder how somebody could ask such a question with a straight face… somebody other than Jules anyway. “Being the best doesn’t mean she’s isn’t also weird…” Petie mumbled, still blushing as he looked away as he heard Grace and Rose, who had apparently overheard everything, giggling a little.
“Oh!” Jiro said, making a little pig squeal noise “Okay, that makes sense.” He nodded and smiled before stepping away “Anyway I gotta go catch up with my big bro, see you in class!” he called out as he turn and sprinted down the hall faster than his fat body looked like it should have been able to move. Petie watched the jiggling piglet skid a little on the tile and vanish out of sight around the corner before sighing and shaking his head. He considered wondering how many other weird kids he’d meet today but he knew the PCA well enough to know it’d have some new weirdo ready to surprise him if he did. Luckily Jules spoke up and reminded Petie about what they’d been talking about.
“He seemed nice, wonder why he didn’t come to the team auditions?”
“Dunno Jules… anyway what about Maddie, Andrew, and Tabitha?”
“Oh, Maddie got chased off by another miltank~”
“… what?”

PCA – Heavy Weight Meetings
Part 1

“… what?”
