It is the lighting, it does look normal grey/white in person. For now I'm trying to find a setup that works, these were just taken super-fast so I could get them uploaded :P
If I use my camera and not my phone, it looks...well, still not great, but the colours are clearer. (It even shows up that I used off-white for the fluffy one! xD)

Thanks! And yeah, I think the trick is really just finding better lighting and using a camera instead of a phone, hopefully that'll eliminate the need for PS and retouching and junk
Unusually, the flat white one took the longest! About three weeks on and off, probably... 30+ hours? The grey/white one was a lot shorter, perhaps 15 hours. It's because the much fluffier wool meant I could use fewer, larger pieces, instead of more, smaller ones.
