I don't remember feeling anything for the box, honestly. I thought it was a cute little part where they personified it, but I don't remember any emotional attachment to it.
Though did you hear the fan theory that there might actually BE someone inside the Companion Cube, when they mentioned that some people heard it speak to them? Look it up.
