For those of you into anal occupations such as knowing which drawing Sherlock Holmes keeps his works in (second from left, table with the Tiffany lamp), and what year Scrooge McDuck's first dime was struck in (1858 according to one expert), this inset from a larger map shows the location of the scene shown in "Lift?" (See Gallery page.)
The lower red down on Eastern Island is Henson Wharf, and the arrow shows the direction of sight. The upper red dot shows the location of the Carnacki Para-dimensional Institute, which brings visitors from other realities to Spontoon. the Institute canjust be seen in the drawing as an antenna around the bend of the headlnad. In the map you can see that the headland isn't so much a jut of land as a mild bend in the long line-of-sight end of the island.

Well, Heywulf is the expert, but as I understand it (from him), Spontoon has a rather fluid reality in which numerous "takes" are equally correct. This saves him from having to know everything and be constantly correcting people. For instance, "Float Town" is not the official name of the sizable community on Eastern Island (although Eastern Island *is* official). It's a good name, and maybe other people will use it... but if the town is called "Meatball Port" by Swedes living in Spontoon (in Swedish, naturally), and the natives call it "Sooperpui", and the neo-Nazis "New Berlin", that's fine too.
Insofar as anything is, then, the Institute is "canon". I made it up myself as a portal for characters of mine to visit, since they obviously don't reside there.
