Be Mine - Gemini - Soft Cell
A soft Cell version of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15757085/ which is done in what I call "airbrushed style" It is closer to the amount of details I would put into a "painted style" commission but much softer in the transitions of colours and values.
Some people may consider air brushing "soft cell painting" rather then "soft cell shading"
It can be confusing and I find the easiest way is to simple show people what I can offer
I am uploading this one for the purpose of an example considering that basic soft cell shading is the basis of airbrushing an image.
A few people told me that were unsure of the differences.
if you look at this one, it is very simple compared to the airbrushed version.
The colour shades and transitions are harder and contain far less colours (usually 4-5 the same as my hard cell images, a painted or airbrushed one contains many different colours and shades). This is what takes most of the time, the gradual introduction and blending of a "new" colour.
There is also less distinction between the darks and the lights in certain areas such as the fur.
I consider both very beautiful and unique in their own way, but the difference is in the amount of details in the finished image.
this is why a "soft celled" image is lower in cost then a "air brushed image"
It's all about the details.
Please remember that I charge my base prices based on the amount of detail and colour and not by time. It is my opinion that charging by time ($x per hour) is very unfair to the commissioner. Just because I can draw say a cat much faster then I can draw a tiger doesn't mean that the cat is worth far less. Perhaps I have only drawn cats, of course I would be very fast. But both require time, knowledge and patience to complete. To be able to finish the cat so quickly would only mean that all the time spent to study the cat was done before. if one spent such time on a tiger or any other animal the result would be the same. Neither is worth more or less then the other so long as the quality remains the same.
Remember that when you purchase from an artist you are not paying for the time to complete your sole image. You are paying them for all the years it took to reach the level of skill they are at today.
Thanks for reading.
