Two things:
First, I am very tired. It's very late for me. I didn't realize this render would take this long, otherwise I would have just did it the next day. As soon as I post this submission, I am going to bed.
Second, I have been working on this for quite some time. I started February 9. No, it did not take me 6 days to make this model. More like around 12-15 hours. Stretched over the span of 6 days. Last few days were wasted.
I really went all out on this model, making it very detailed. I don't often go into this much detail with models. And I tried not to cut any corners with this one, although I did forget a few things and some things could be better.
This is the main render, but I will be taking more detail shots of this guitar. And when I go back to do so, I'll try to correct a few things, like the smoothing on some of the objects. I didn't think it was necessary for the render.
I would really like to up the sampling on these renders as well, but my computer just can't handle it. Sorry, I'm not sitting here for 12 hours to make even a half decent render. This took an 1 hours and 20 minutes to render.
Not including the cloth on the ground or back, or the curved back which you probably can't see, this is 54 objects, over 27k polygons before smoothing, of which I didn't use any.
Except for the wood grain and logo, I made all of the textures (the pickguard and the sunburst on the guitar). This was my first time using a 2k (2048 x 2048) texture map. My computer couldn't handle anything bigger.
I am proud of this model. This is the kind of model I make when I'm really testing myself to see just what I can really do. Now you all see the peak of my ability. Maybe I can do better, but this is up there.
I tried to stream this when I started on February 9. I streamed for about 6 hours, but no one would know because I didn't say anything. No one comes to my streams anyway. It was more for just me and increasing my focus.
Unfortunately, the lag became so great, I couldn't stream anymore. I did record what I streamed, another reason for streaming, but I had to cut out before modeling the bridge.
I was and will upload footage so you all can see what I had so far, but I want to edit it. There are a few things I had to edit out, and I want to speed it up so you won't see 6 hours of footage. 12x speed should be good.
I also want to add words, add a message for my YouTube subscribers, change the music, etc.
As mentioned, I had to cut out before I started the bridge, so you'll miss the modeling of the bridge, saddles, saddle screws, tuner backs, strings, the making of the textures, and the rendering.
I really hope you all like this submission. I did work hard on it and it took a very long time. It was quite taxing on my computer as well, as I worked it to the bone. So please, please don't tear me down on this one.
I was thinking of finally starting commissions. I really need the money, and if I can make money doing this, why not.
Xii requested I make this long ago. Probably a year ago. But I'm only just now getting to is. Sorry Xii. Hey, you all should check out his profile! He draws pretty good!!
As usual, don't steal, copy, edit, etc.
Want something, just ask.
I'll be taking different shots of this from other angles so you all can see the back side, and a few detail shots like the bridge, the tuner machines, the pickups, etc.

this is what you were talking about modeling? it came out beautiful.
rendered in cycles i can also see.
you could probably sell copies of the mesh and uv.
i don't know if anyone could afford a fraction of what your time in it is worth
but it ought to find enough buyers to cover.
i know that's something i never think about doing
i'm usually the one to bitch about a hobby not being free
and i'm not a business person
but i know there are places on the net, where people buy and sell highly detailed models like this.
and they go for, well, if you sell maybe 10 of them, and you'd probably sell more then that.
by which i mean sell non-exclsive usage rights to the mesh bundled with its uv.
i'm guessing asking between 50 and 100, somewhere that people can keep buying it.
there are 3d meshes for pay sites, i don't remember the links to any of them off hand,
because i've neither bought nor sold. you might already know the ones i'm talking about
or someone who sees this maybe will.
i don't mean etsy, because that's for selling like whole rights to a render or something
but i'm thinking of places within the 3dcg industry, where they buy and sell stuff, of this professional caliber.
which it really really is.

Also the strings on basses don't stick outout all Willy nilly like guitar tuners do. They go into some sort of central hole thingy on the top http://www.doctorbass.net/adftp/adg.....-Bass-Pala.jpg
Aw why are the strings under the nut? Actually, I think I know why. I was trying to put them under the string spacer thing.
I meant to go back and edit the guitar some more anyway.
Wish I knew about and saw those references before hand. Every reference I used didn't show those at all.
One of them did, but I had forgot to put in those bars at the top, but I certainly didn't see it in that detail.
Is the bass slightly arched or something? I only saw what looked like a flat bass.
I knew I had forgotten one or two things, and I was going to correct them, but I didn't know it came out a technical failure like this. And all that work I put into it too...

The bass is flat, but it has contours like a Stratocaster does.

I wouldn't call it a failure by the way. If you look up a picture of a black j bass you can see where the contours on the front start if you cant look at one irl at a music store

Oh, do you know where I can get a better look at the saddles? The material I used for them was guesswork because I couldn't get an accurate view of them.
This is what I used as a reference: http://elderly.com/images/fmic/55N/.....B-R_bridge.jpg
But it looks weird. At least with the materials I used it does.
Similar with the nut, but I used SSS and roughed it up a bit to make it look like a kind of plastic or rather of bone.
Seems I'll have to tone down the chrome as well. I knew I would, but the references I saw often used high gloss chrome.
