A first time in Photoshop? Consider me blown away. You've shown fantastic knowledge of anatomy which has left me awe-struck, to be honest with you. The monochrome approach does really emphasise the expression; usually with colours and especially in the case of species like cheetahs with features like spots, the main attraction is just that. Using just pencils makes the expression stand out and you've done a wonderful job on that! Lovely lighting/shading on the fur, very effective in giving texture to the fur. Really, I'm very, very impressed. ^^
