I actually have a theory on that, it seems like more and more parents are potty training their children early, sometimes as soon as their 1st birthday, the reason being that most parents simply don't wanna spend more money on diapers. And it doesn't stop there, schools are teaching certain topics at much lower grade levels than they used to, we're fastly approaching a point where pre-k will be necessary for every child if they're gonna be ready for elementary school, a child is practically expected to be able to read flawlessly by the time they get to kindergarten =\
But on the other hand, because of all this, children are becoming stressed out much more easily, girls "mature" much sooner than they used to, and bedwetting is far more common, the last one being perhaps related to being potty trained too soon =\
Do you agree?

Not necessarily. I mean, I do agree that kids are pushed to excel at an early age... in fact, some kindergartens are teaching their students other languages. The prevailing theory is that the job market has gotten so competitive that parents are looking to give their kids every advantage they can, as soon as they can. But the diaper thing, well, I tend to think that was an anomaly of the 1980s and 1990s. Before the rise of disposable diapers, kids were trained as early as a year and a half. However, disposables made things so convenient for parents that they could wait two or three years to introduce their children to the toilet, and pediatricians were eager to advocate waiting longer and longer for training. (The money they were given by Proctor and Gamble was probably a factor in that advocacy.)
Now disposables aren't as fun as they used to be (less thick and more likely to cause chemical burns) and today's parents have a more hands-on approach to raising their kids, as opposed to the working couples of the 1980s. There's a concept called "elimination communication" that's been floating around for a while, where parents start toilet training their children from birth. It strikes me as pretty ridiculous, but some parents swear that it works! (Some of these same parents breastfeed their kids until four, which seems contradictory, but whatever.)
