So, sadly, since I don't have a Wii I can't bask in the awesome that is Mega Man 9. Instead I watched a walkthrough of the game on Youtube, and what Roll says in the first panel there is actual dialouge from one of the cut scenes. The boss robots you fight were apparently work robots scheduled to be destroyed as they'd passed their 'expiration date'.
Mega Man's reaction is mine. Seriously, wtf? Expiration dates?

This is awful.
I saw this on the front page, and went "oh awesome a new pie comic" and noticed it had a guy in a 2 tone blue shirt and before clicking it I knew it was megaman. Watch out world, if you have two colors of blue you are megaman.
But seriously. I love this fucking game.

The Good: LOL. This is a funny comic, with a good point behind it. And I like Mega Man's awesome "WTF" eyes. xD Unfortunately I have to sully it with dorky insights. I know how annoying it is for people to do this, so please forgive me. <=)
The Dork: You see, robot masters actually aren't sentient, they're just able to react to things in a preprogrammed fashion according to certain personality algorhythms they've been given. Mega Man, on the other hand, was purported to be different, which is his overarching story- and thus why he eventually wants to kill Wily. Dr. Light saw this and used his data to create Mega Man X, who then ushered in the age of robots who could learn and 'think.'
The Really Dork: Now, there's a bit of controversy as to whether this is completely true, as technically Zero (also from the X series) is a robot master (as he didn't come from the plans of Mega Man X like the rest of the 'reploids') and he can learn and think, but it's never really made clear what Dr. Cain did to him, so it's sort of up in the air.

The AI is not perfect.
The AI will slowly degrade, and eventually they go rouge or crash
Part of why Rock doesn't get to keep his copy powers after every game is because his AI has to be 'fixed' every once and a while. Same goes with all of Light's robots except X.
not really, but hey, it works.
