Well I'm sure you have a feel for your own project and what will work.
A lot of little things are hidden by the fur once its on. The head bulks up quite a bit and little differences in symmetrical foaming won't matter. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12219598/ I found really helpful if you haven't seen it already.
