Depends on if you're using Poser or DAZ|Studio. In Poser, the shadows can be turned on or off in the lighting setup. In DAZ|Studio, I have no idea, but I'm sure there's tutorials for it.
If shadows aren't in a scene, one cannot get a feeling for where the character is in the scene, be it on the ground or in the air.
